Review : Everneath

Everneath (Everneath, #1)Everneath by Brodi Ashton

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Ok so the only thing I didn't like about this book was that it was WAY SLOW. So I'm docing one star for that. Other than that I thought the book was wonderful. It give a fresh new story to the old myths of our time. Below are some of the parts I loved best.

Page 83 "I'd like you to ask yourself, who loses hope first? And who never gives up? Because its not the supernatural abilities that set mythical characters apart." She leaned forward. "Its the decisions the human characters make, in impossible situations, that have us still talking about them centuries later. Heroes are made by the paths they choose, not the powers they are graced with."

Page 100 "Sometimes a week felt like a day, and sometimes a minute felt like an eternity"

Parks and Jessica Don't Mix!

So the above pictures are of my left ankle 4 days after I sprained it at the park.  Doesn't it look pretty?
I so thought I broke it that day.

And there is a wonderful video of when I was in the ER before it went purple.

I think I need to be put in a padded room with books.  That way I can't get hurt and I'll have no distractions but reading.

The Hunger Games

Title: The Hunger Games
Author: Suzanne Collins
Pages: 384
Publisher: Scholastic Press
Rating: 5 Stars
Ages: 12 and up

About the book:
In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by twelve outlying districts. Long ago the districts waged war on the Capitol and were defeated. As part of the surrender terms, each district agreed to send one boy and one girl to appear in an annual televised event called, "The Hunger Games," a fight to the death on live TV. Sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen, who lives alone with her mother and younger sister, regards it as a death sentence when she is forced to represent her district in the Games. The terrain, rules, and level of audience participation may change but one thing is constant: kill or be killed.

My Review:

OK so I read this book for my book club and I have to say that I LOVED IT!!  I can't wait for the movie and we are now reading the rest of the books!

This book ended at a great point to start the next book as it didn't end at a high point in the book and didn't leave you hanging to much.

Embrace Massive Review Post! March 1st

On March 1st we will be posting a massive link list of this upcoming book!

About The Book:

"My girl, "
Happy 17th birthday. I wish I could be there with you, but I think if you ar reading this...I am not. For that, I am sorry. The day your dad and I found out we were going to have a baby was the happiest day of my long life. I know the only day that will exceed that joy will be the day you are born - no matter how that day ends.
A big decision lies ahead. The burden of the covenant is a heavy one to bear. Choose with your heart, for I already know that you, my girl, must let your heart guide the way.
"I love you. Please forgive me."

Incarnate by: Jodi Meadows

Title: Incarnate

Author: Jodi Meadows
Publication: January 31, 2012
Rating: 5 Stars

About the Book:

NEWSOUL
Ana is new. For thousands of years in Range, a million souls have been reincarnated over and over, keeping their memories and experiences from previous lifetimes. When Ana was born, another soul vanished, and no one knows why.
NOSOUL
Even Ana's own mother thinks she's a nosoul, an omen of worse things to come, and has kept her away from society. To escape her seclusion and learn whether she'll be reincarnated, Ana travels to the city of Heart, but its citizens are suspicious and afraid of what her presence means. When dragons and sylph attack the city, is Ana to blame?
HEART
Sam believes Ana's new soul is good and worthwhile. When he stands up for her, their relationship blooms. But can he love someone who may live only once, and will Ana's enemies--human and creature alike--let them be together? Ana needs to uncover the mistake that gave her someone else's life, but will her quest threaten the peace of Heart and destroy the promise of reincarnation for all?
Jodi Meadows expertly weaves soul-deep romance, fantasy, and danger into an extraordinary tale of new life.

My Review:
What if when you died you were reborn? What if when you were reborn you would remember everything from every other time you lived?

Well this is the world that Ana is born into but unlike the rest of the population she is NEW!

This book was wonderful! I loved it.  The only thing I wish that would have been added was more.  I know that on goodreads it says that this is NewSoul #1 so I'm so happy that I get to read more of Ana and Sam.

So since I cannot quote directly from the book since it is an advanced copy! So here is something else.

In this world it seems that even after everyone has lived for thousands of years that they are still afraid of the unknown.  I think that after they had been alive for so long that some of them might get tired of being reborn over and over.  Having to deal with the hardships of living.  The other thing is it seems that they have gotten past the simple gender issues that in our world it seems we may never get over.
In their world where you are reborn over and over any sometimes you are male and sometimes female.  It goes that gender doesn't mean the same things that it does in our society.

All in all the only issue I had with this book was there are a TON of questions that have been left unanswered. I hope that those are brought up in the next book.

About the Book:
Emily Webb is a geek. And she’s happy that way. Content hiding under hoodies and curling up to watch old horror flicks, she’s never been the kind of girl who sneaks out for midnight parties. And she’s definitely not the kind of girl who starts fights or flirts with other girls’ boyfriends. Until one night Emily finds herself doing exactly that . . . the same night one of her classmates—also named Emily—is found mysteriously murdered.

The thing is, Emily doesn’t know why she’s doing any of this. By day, she’s the same old boring Emily, but by night, she turns into a thrill seeker. With every nightfall, Emily gets wilder until it’s no longer just her personality that changes. Her body can do things it never could before: Emily is now strong, fast, and utterly fearless. And soon Emily realizes that she’s not just coming out of her shell . . . there’s something much bigger going on. Is she bewitched by the soul of the other, murdered Emily? Or is Emily Webb becoming something else entirely—something not human?
As Emily hunts for answers, she finds out that she’s not the only one this is happening to—some of her classmates are changing as well. Who is turning these teens into monsters—and how many people will they kill to get what they want?

Biography

My name's Jeff. By day I'm a young adult author. By night, I'm a pop culture fiend. Read more about me and my books--including brand new release Vesper: A Deviants Novel--at jeffsampsonbooks.com.

My Review:

Vesper is the first of a three book series called Deviants.  This is Jeff Sampson's first YA series and he doesn't disappoint! This book involves everything I love in a good book: paranormal,a quick read, and  a surprising plot, and wonderful geeky characters.

Below is some of the quotes I just loved.

Page 170- "you know how beer smells? sort of like cat pee by way of a ready, boozy stench? combine that with a terrible bitter taste that lingers on the tongue, and a warm frothy bubbliness like a can of cola that's been left open int he sun for three weeks, and you can imagine maybe a fraction of the nastiness."

Page 194- :Lesson for the day, kids: Hangovers are real, and they re the opposite of fun."

I loved both of those and they made me laugh for so long!  This book was amazing and I can't wait for the next installment coming Jan. 24th!
