Rose grew up in New York City mostly in the labyrinthine galleries of the Metropolitan Museum, the dark tunnels and lush gardens of Central Park and reading her mother's favorite books before she was allowed. This story paints a wonderful mysterious story of young Sandrine. It was a wonderful historical fiction with a touch of the paranormal. I loved all of the wonderful descriptions thought the book that made me feel like I was there. The book starts out with Sandrine running away from her nasty husband and fleeing to her grandmothers. This story is breathtaking and beautiful! It will drawl you into its pages and not let go until the end.
