#Review & #Giveaway of Illusions of Fate by @kierstenwhite #Thanks @HarperTeen @EpicReads

Downton Abbey meets Cassandra Clare in this lush, romantic fantasy from New York Times bestselling author Kiersten White.

“I did my best to keep you from crossing paths with this world. And I shall do my best to protect you now that you have.”

Jessamin has been an outcast since she moved from her island home of Melei to the dreary country of Albion. Everything changes when she meets Finn, a gorgeous, enigmatic young lord who introduces her to the secret world of Albion’s nobility, a world that has everything Jessamin doesn’t—power, money, status…and magic. But Finn has secrets of his own, dangerous secrets that the vicious Lord Downpike will do anything to possess. Unless Jessamin, armed only with her wits and her determination, can stop him.

Kiersten White captured readers’ hearts with her New York Times bestselling Paranormalcy trilogy and its effortless mix of magic and real-world teenage humor. She returns to that winning combination of wit, charm, and enchantment in Illusions of Fate, a sparkling and romantic new novel perfect for fans of Cassandra Clare, The Madman’s Daughter, and Libba Bray.

Well this one was no better.  And in some cases it was much worse than book one.  This one as you can see turned out to be a 2 star for this reviewer.  I am offering up my ARC copy of this one so just comment below with how you followed to enter.  No Rafflecopter for this one folks.

So this one picks up where the other left off.  And there was never really a good reason to have a second book as all that really happens is Annie is whining once again this time about missing her younger sister.  Perfect Lies is clearly a victim of second bookitis. As this book had no real plot and even more annoying characters.  So I'm sorry to say that this one didn't do much to redeem Mind Games and just made me want to shred the book.

*No harm has come to any books PROMISE!!

NOTE: the only thing that was REALLY good about this is the extremely fast ending which does make you want to read book 3.  But its just not enough.  Also White if you are reading this I am so sorry I couldn't like this series.  I love your others though including The Chaos of Stars which a ton of people hated.  Go figure!

"*I received a copy of this book for free to review, this in no way influenced my review, all opinions are 100% honest and my own."

{Review} Mind Games (Mind Games #1) by @kierstenwhite {Published} @harperteen

Mind Games (Mind Games, #1)Fia was born with flawless instincts. Her first impulse, her gut feeling, is always exactly right. Her sister, Annie, is blind to the world around her—except when her mind is gripped by strange visions of the future.

Trapped in a school that uses girls with extraordinary powers as tools for corporate espionage, Annie and Fia are forced to choose over and over between using their abilities in twisted, unthinkable ways…or risking each other’s lives by refusing to obey.

In a stunning departure from her New York Times bestselling Paranormalcy trilogy, Kiersten White delivers a slick, edgy, heartstoppingly intense psychological thriller about two sisters determined to protect each other—no matter the cost.

I had gotten Mind Games via the publisher as an ARC and just never got around to reading it.  Why I don't know.  Maybe the kindle decided to hide it from me.  Well when I was sent a copy of book two Perfect Lies I went out and purchased a hardback of Mind Games via Amazon.  And well the story I found it lacking.  The entire thing made me want to throw the book across the room most of the time.  The constant back and forth of time periods was boring and tedious and also very annoying!

So although I did start to care about the characters and I really wanted to know what happened to them. And yes I did finish Mind Games I found the who thing random, annoying, lacking, and just a complete epic fail.  I think the story would have been a lot better if it would have just been written differently.

So will I be keeping my hardback of Mind Games?  Yes I think I more than likely will.  Yes my name is Jessica and I am a book border!

{Review} The Chaos of Stars @KierstenWhite @EpicReads

The Chaos of Stars
Isadora’s family is seriously screwed up.

Of course, as the human daughter of Egyptian gods, that pretty much comes with the territory. She’s also stuck with parents who barely notice her, and a house full of relatives who can’t be bothered to remember her name. After all, they are going to be around forever—and she’s a mere mortal.

Isadora’s sick of living a life where she’s only worthy of a passing glance, and when she has the chance to move to San Diego with her brother, she jumps on it. But Isadora’s quickly finding that a “normal” life comes with plenty of its own epic complications—and that there’s no such thing as a clean break when it comes to family. Much as she wants to leave her past behind, she can’t shake the ominous dreams that foretell destruction for her entire family. When it turns out there may be truth in her nightmares, Isadora has to decide whether she can abandon her divine heritage after all.
