Pam Bachorz

Biography

Pam Bachorz grew up in a small town in the Adirondack foothills, where she participated in every possible performance group and assiduously avoided any threat of athletic activity, unless it involved wearing sequined headpieces and treading water.

Pam draws inspiration from the places she knows best: she wrote CANDOR while living in a Florida planned community, and set DROUGHT in the woods where she spent her summers as a child. She and her family currently live near Washington, DC. When she's not writing, reading, working or parenting, Pam likes to go to museums and theater performances, and watch far too much television.

As far as she knows, Pam has never been brainwashed. Or maybe that's just what she's supposed to say.

My Review:
Ok so this book was really good. I wasn't to happy about the ending I think it could have had more. But It was good. The story was very addicting as I finished this book in one day. The book follows a girl named Ruby who has been a slave for around 200 year. It is set in the year of 2012 and it is a very thrilling story of what would you do for freedom? and what wouldn't you do for love?

The book is very religions and it shows the many issues that being dedicated to your religion can take you. As would you allow people to treat you badly just because your god left and you think that you are supposed to wait and endure. It takes you to the brink of what wouldn't you for freedom and what would you risk for love??

It is not a christen religious story just so you know. Their god is Otto who left Ruby's mother over 200 years ago. His blood and the water they collect is the staple of their lives.

All in all it was a wonderful book. It has a very good ending but I wish they would have done more. I think it would be an awesome series. And I could see it as a made for tv mini series.

In Our Mailbox

So I thought my mail lady was going to kill me today.  I had ordered a bunch of Priority Boxes and such and ended up messing up on the amount. So instead of getting 10 boxes I got 10 units which is 225 boxes and I did that more than once. Thinking I'm going to be getting 10-20 boxes and not units.  We also got our first post card from POSTCROSSING.COM it is from Montana.  And last but not least I revived a few books from Goodreads.com/swap.

You can see my two kids waving. Even the baby who is currently 10 months old and my 7 year old.

Here are some of my ARC's Some I got today and some of them I didn't.

Here is our 1st postcard we have gotten from Postcrossing.com

#BookReview: Shifting by @WiggB @WalkerBooksUK

Synopsis: After bouncing from foster home to foster home, Magdalene Mae is transferred to what should be her last foster home in the tiny town of Silver City, New Mexico.

Now that she's eighteen and has only a year left in high school, she's determined to stay out of trouble and just be normal.

Agreeing to go to the prom with Bridger O'Connell is a good first step. Fitting in has never been her strong suit, but it's not for the reasons most people would expect-it all has to do with the deep secret that she is a shape shifter.

But even in her new home danger lurks, waiting in the shadows to pounce. They are the Skinwalkers of Navajo legend, who have traded their souls to become the animal whose skin they wear-and Maggie is their next target.

Full of romance, mysticism, and intrigue, this dark take on Navajo legend will haunt readers to the final page.

NEW LAWS FOR MUSIC VOLUME

MY DAY STARTED OUT LIKE THIS>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

<THEN AS THE DAY WENT BY I START TO READ ANOTHER BOOK

THEN WE STARTED HEARING THIS HORRENDOUS  NOISE>

<WE CALLED THE COPS AND FOUND OUT THAT THEY HAD A PERMIT TO TO PLAY MUSIC TILL 8PM SO THEY COULDN'T DO ANYTHING

IS IT SO HARD TO ASK THEM TO >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

WE NEED >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Ok so today we got up to do school and everything was fine.  We didn't get much sleep last night but we were dragging along.  Then around 12pm we started hearing this banging.  I thought it was the next door neighbor with their music up way loud.  But I just found out that it is a community picnic and that they have a permit to have music so they can have it so loud that I can hear it inside my home with the tv and music on from my computer and there is nothing they can do about it until 8pm which is when their permit expires.  So for the next 4 hours myself, my two daughter, my mother who had HBP and my elderly grandmother all have to be subjected to this crap.

Veronica Roth

Biography

Veronica Roth is a 22-year-old debut author, and a recent graduate of Northwestern University's Creative Writing program. While a student, she often chose to work on the story that would become Divergent instead of doing her homework. It was a transforming choice. Now a full-time writer, Ms. Roth lives near Chicago.

My Review:

Simply put, I did not like this book. I tried to like it. I forced myself to make it to chapter 12 and after that.... I was done. I just posted my review and noticed how many people like this book so I hope that this doesn't deter people from reading it. But it just wasn't for me.

The beginning starts off way WAY. I still don't have a clear picture of what was really going on with everything. I even ended up rereading a few chapters just to see if I could understand it better.

The way the book was written was very annoying. And it took me forever to reach chapter 12. When I can read a 600 page book in a day and it took me about 4 hours just to get to page 130. And the words that were used some of them were very hard to pronounce and I hate to think I'm saying it wrong.

Life Eternal (Dead Beautiful #2) by @yvonnewoon #BookReview

Ren e Winters has changed. When she looks in the mirror, a beautiful girl with an older, sadder face stares back. Her condition has doctors mystified, but Ren e can never reveal the truth: she died last May, and was brought back to life by the kiss of her Undead soul mate, Dante Berlin.

Now, her separation from Dante becomes almost unbearable. His second life is close to an end, and each passing day means one less that she will spend with the boy who shares her soul.

Just when Ren e has almost given up hope, she learns of the Nine Sisters-brilliant scholars who, according to legend, found a way to cheat death. She can't shake the feeling that they are somehow connected to her dreams, strange visions that hint at a discovery so powerful, and so dangerous, that some will stop at nothing to protect it.

Ren e thought she knew the truth about life and death. But there is a secret woven through history that holds the only hope for Dante and Ren e. Unless they find answers soon, their time together is doomed to be cut short.

Don't Be Afraid of the Dark! Ya Right!

So we went to go watch this movie today in Orlando.  And I must say it is not one of my fav movies from director Del Toro.  I don't know why I watch these things.  I always end up way scared when night comes lol.  I guess I like so many others just love being scared.  If you know Faerie Lore than this movie will make much more sense to you vs. people who don't.  It had a LOT of celtic overtones. From a Faerie Ring to the artwork in the house.

All in all it was a wonderful remake of the made for tv movie from the 70's but if you ask me they could have changed the ending and gave it a better story.  As a story for the 70's vs. the 21st century where we have ghost hunters and the vampire diaries.  I think they could have kicked some monster ASS and it would have been a better movie.

Well anyhoo this movie gets Four Trees since it was fairly scary.  But I still think that they could have done better.

PS. If you have seen this movie or you are going to see it.  The Runes above the ash shoot say BE WARNED.  I hate it when they use things like this but then don't say anything about it.  It really ticks me off.

Below is information about this movie. (taken from Wikipedia.com)

Don't Be Afraid of the Dark is a 2011 American horror film written by Matthew Robbins and Guillermo del Toro and directed by comic book artist Troy Nixey. The film stars Guy Pearce, Bailee Madison, and Katie Holmes, as a man, his daughter, and his girlfriend moving into an 19th century Rhode Island mansion, where his withdrawn daughter begins to witness malevolent goblin-like creatures that emerge from a sealed fireplace in the basement of the house. It is a remake of the 1973 ABC made-for-television horror film of the same name that starred Kim Darby.

!!WARNING!!

A gruesome prologue set on the night of October 1910 shows the home's deranged first owner, artist and biologist Emerson Blackwood, luring his maid, Miss Winter, into the dungeon-like basement and rem
oving teeth from the mouth of the terrified young woman. As he carries out the atrocity, he explains to the young maid that they, the goblin-like creatures known as Homunculi, have taken his son and will only give him back with teeth. As the young woman screams, whispering can be heard all around the room from the sealed up fireplace. Blackwood makes his way over to the fireplace and offers the teeth in exchange for the return of his son, only to be told his offering wasn't acceptable and he is pulled into the fireplace. The basement is sealed and forgotten over the generations.
The movie then opens with a young girl, Sally Hirst (Bailee Madison), moving into Blackwood Manor, the Gothic mansion being restored by her architect father Alex (Guy Pearce) and his girlfriend Kim (Katie Holmes), an interior decorator. Her father is renovating the house they live in, in hopes of having it on the front page of a known magazine. Due to the fact that her mother recently abandoned her, Sally has become a distant child with emotional vulnerability. Although Kim tries to befriend her, Sally alienates herself from her.

One day, Sally hears voices calling her name and follows them — finding a hidden basement with a fireplace that has been bolted shut. She is drawn toward the fireplace, as she can hear voices that beg her to open it, promising friendship. One day she sneaks into the basement to open the fireplace, but her father stops her before she can get the door completely open. The Homunculi escape, however, and begin to torment Sally at night telling her to turn the lights out.

As the days progress, Kim finds several of her dresses shredded, and Alex's straight razor goes missing. Shortly afterward, a teddy bear that Kim gave to Sally is found destroyed underneath her bed after she yelled for her Dad having been scared by the creatures. Sally claims that someone (or something) else is to blame for these things, but her father does not believe her and is preoccupied with renovating the house. Kim, however, begins to believe her claims, as strange incidents occur more frequently.
Kim then leaves to speak with the house's groundskeeper, who knows the history of the house and was severely injured by the Homunculi for warning the family to leave. She asks him about the house and the truth behind the fireplace. He tells Kim to go to the local library to search for history of the house and the original o
wner. Upon looking into the history Kim discovers the previous owner's son went missing at a young age. Before his own disappearance, Blackwood ranted about small creatures dating back from the Stone Age that were known to kidnap people, usually children, for the purpose of replenishing their numbers and eating their victims' bones and teeth. Kim looks at Blackwood's images of the creatures, and finds that they match Sally's illustrations and descriptions.
Realizing the danger, Kim attempts to get Sally out of the house, and stay in a hotel. However, before they leave, the creatures cut the house's power. The creatures trap Alex in the garage and try to kill him. They trip Kim as she is walking down the stairs, tie up Sally and pull her into the basement. Kim awakens and is able to cut Sally's ropes before the creatures can pull her into the fireplace. Sally is also able to kill one of the creatures with the camera. However Kim's leg becomes tangled in the rope. Alex escapes the garage and arrives just in time to see Kim being pulled into the fireplace.
In the epilogue, after Alex and
Sally escape, the house goes into foreclosure. They visit it one last time so that Sally can leave a drawing she had made of her and Kim as a memorial to Kim for her sacrifice to save Sally. After they leave, the drawing mysteriously floats down to the basement and into the fireplace. The film concludes with Kim (who has become one of the creatures) and the creatures speaking to each other, patiently waiting for their next victims to move into the house.

Underworld part 4

Ok now who doesn't love this series?  I just hope that they do a great job continuing the storyline.  Instead of killing it like a  lot of movies they should have just started and finished with one.

I can't wait to see what they have in store for Selene and her new daughter.  My only real question which Selene asks in they teaser is WHERE IS MICHAEL???
