Age Rating: 13+

About the Book:

About the Book:
One hour to rewrite the past . . .

For seventeen-year-old Emerson Cole, life is about seeing what isn’t there: swooning Southern Belles; soldiers long forgotten; a haunting jazz trio that vanishes in an instant. Plagued by phantoms since her parents’ death, she just wants the apparitions to stop so she can be normal. She’s tried everything, but the visions keep coming back.

So when her well-meaning brother brings in a consultant from a secretive organization called the Hourglass, Emerson’s willing to try one last cure. But meeting Michael Weaver may not only change her future, it may change her past.
Who is this dark, mysterious, sympathetic guy, barely older than Emerson herself, who seems to believe every crazy word she says? Why does an electric charge seem to run through the room whenever he’s around? And why is he so insistent that he needs her help to prevent a death that never should have happened?

The cover of this book is so neat looking.  It is unlike anything I have ever seen.  I believe that the description gives a good idea of what the book is about. With maybe some things left out.  But, that doesn't take away from the book but adds to it.

This book started out so well!  With witty banter and wonderful characters.

Yet as it went on it just got boring. It lost my attention and didn't do anything to grab it back.  It just kept dragging on and on.

I did finish the book and towards the end it started pulling me back in.

I was disappointed a little that the book just went on and on and on.  I don't like books that drag.  Authors/Editors could cut it down and take out some of the nonessential crap and make such a better book with fewer pages.

I did enjoy the ending of the book.  I think it ended with a somewhat cliff hanger but not such a big one that you would be pulling your hair out until book 2 came out.  So thats very good.

There are so many books out there about time travel.  I LOVE that in this book it takes more than one person to do it.  I have never liked that books like Tempest, and tv shows like the Time Travelers Wife.  Where they can travel alone without help.  It never set very right with me.  (I don't know why- Maybe I was a traveler in another life)

This book again is about Time Travel but also toward the end it turns into a love trio.  I think that could have been skipped all together.  With the connection that Em and Michael have trying to add another person to that love is just plain stupid if you ask me.  I understand why it was added.  But it could have been ended before the next book.  It added an extra element that it just didn't need.

Ok Characters!  I LOVE EM!  She is awesome!  She will kick your ass if you mess with her or her family! I love that.  You don't get a lot of female characters that know how to use what they have.  With Em its martial arts and yes she kicks some ass.

Michael he is a great male lead.  I do think that he was kinda of stupid towards the end of the book.  But it all works out so thats fine.  But again it kind of adds an extra twist that the book just didn't need.

So all in all I did like the book.  I think that this is one of those books that could go either way.
So Ill give it two rating.

Bipolar Disorder

Bipolar Disorder
How do you treat it?
Places like Psychological Care & Healing Treatment Center realizes that Bipolar Disorder is a lifelong issue, with exacerbations and remissions. The Clinical Staff at PCH Treatment Center has extensive experience in dealing with this disorder. Dr. Jeff Ball has over 25 years in practice treating the spectrum of Bipolar Disorder. He served as a senior therapist in a clinical research project which looked at medication management in conjunction with family therapy in the treatment of Bipolar Disorder, working with Drs. Michael Goldstein and David Miklowitz, foremost experts in this field. In addition to Dr. Ball, PCH Treatment Center features several doctoral level psychologists who have significant expertise in dealing with Clients with Bipolar Illness.
But what is Bipolar Disorder?
A person who has bipolar disorder has intense moods that flip-flop back and forth between the low lows of depression and very energetic, high highs, which are called mania.
So what causes this condition?
It seems that it is caused by both genetics as well as environmental factors and your first episodes will hit before the age of 30 if you have more of the genetics.
I have many people in my family as well as friends that have been diagnosed with this condition.  Some have gotten help and some like my mother have decided that being off medication is better for her.
I however disagree.  I have watched her for many years. When she would be on meds.  Such a efexor she was a zombi.  She went to work, came home and laid on the couch and passed out.  She didnt even do the laundry.  I was 16 at the time.
After that horrible situation she went off the meds.  Which made it that she was back in this world.  Yet she refused to try anything else.
I believe that you just need to find a balance.  A medication that works for you.  But even if you are like my mother and you dont want to be on meds. for whatever reason.  There are places where you can get help.
Places like Psychological Care & Healing Treatment Center.  They have a unique environment for persons with psychological problems who seek an intensive, novel way to resolve their issues. PCH Treatment provides a safe, caring and containing place to begin or continue the healing process. We provide non-judgmental, state-of-the-art individualized psychological treatment, utilizing the most advanced and effective treatment techniques for depression, mania, anxiety, and personality issues. We utilize the most up-to-date treatment modalities combined with a holistic model, focusing on both mind and body. Our individual therapists are at the doctoral level and have 15-25 years of experience. Our psychiatrists endeavor to provide as little medication as possible and only when needed. PCH Treatment Center provides an alternative to an often stigmatizing psychiatric hospital environment.
PCH Treatment Center strives to create a more affordable alternative to “spa-like” residential treatment options.
We do not treat those whose only issue is substance abuse, but rather focus our expertise on what we know best — psychological problems (we do treat those for whom chemical dependency is concurrent to psychological issues). We will design a custom treatment plan and coordinate with a 12-step program when appropriate.
PCH Treatment Center is founded and managed by health care professionals whose goal was to provide a cost-effective intensive treatment program specifically designed for Clients with psychological problems. The success of our Clients signifies that we are meeting and exceeding this goal.

CLEANSING

CLEANSING
Rowan Moonstone 05-28-89

When I cleanse a dwelling place, first I burn a good cleansing incense, like frankincense or sandalwood in the home while I prepare for the rest of the ritual. You should have in addition to the incense, a candle, a bowl of salt water and a bowl of herbs. I particularly like to use rose buds for love, lavender for preservation, rosemary for protection, and any other sweet smelling ones that appeal to you personally. If you can get them home grown, so much the better. You should proceed around the house, widdershins (counter clockwise) and cleanse the area with the salt water. Be sure to get each corner, window, door, drain, etc. Simply sprinkle a little salt water on each and ask that any evil or disruptive influences leave the place. When this is finished, proceed around the house deosil (clockwise) sprinkling the blessing herbs and invoke whatever deities or properties you wish on the home, such as peace prosperity, tranquility, etc. In the past, I have used 3 candles on the central altar. Blue, symbolizing tranquility, green for healing and prosperity, and purple for protection. Others might be pink for love, or brown for hearth and home. You and anyone who is to share the home with you should share food and drink, and don’t forget to leave a little of the food and drink to take outside and return to the Earth that which has been given.

Blessed Be. Rowan

Omg the beach is so nice today. Now if my 8 year old would listen that would be even better. She went out into the water alone and almost drown. But she's fine. A little shaken but ok.

Today the waves are not that big amd the water is a nice 76 degrees.

How are you all spending ur sunday?

Even the divine have a dark side…
Take a journey into a world where the forgotten reign as King and Queen.  Explore a “reality” where the divine give meaning and substance to the concept of IMMORTALITY.
These menacing tales feature beings of divinity from angels, demons, gods, goddesses, to personifications of divine principals.  No other worldly being is safe.  The sparkly undead and wild shaggy dogs have no place in this anthology of dark proportions.
Can you handle it?

Teaser Excerpt

Malachi landed gracefully in the alleyway next to the coffee shop. He enfolded his wings and put on his white knee length wool duster. It wasn’t particularly cold outside but a continuous cool breeze did warrant some coverage. He was growing bored. It had been a while since he was assigned to watch over anyone and the lack of occupation was beginning to aggravate him. To combat the growing feelings of loneliness, Malachi had taken to spending afternoons in a pub in lower Scotland reading books. It didn’t squelch the loneliness but it did give him some sort of comfort being near his home of birth. At least what was left of what he considered his “home.” It had been centuries since he had actually lived here, or lived at all for that matter and the last of his living relatives were long deceased…just like him.

Well not completely like him…

About S.K. Whiteside
S.K. Whiteside is a writer of Paranormal/Fantasy, Horror, and Suspense. As a full time Mental Health Counselor, she started writing in Academia but decided writing about things on the “other side of the veil” was a lot more interesting. Living in the Paranormal capital of the world makes it fairly easy for her to come up with characters, many of which are based off of real personas in her life that are so vibrant they can’t help but carry over into her writing.

S.K. Whiteside is a Fiction Weaver and World Creator. It just so happens that the worlds she creates are often filled with things that go bump in the night. A New Orleanian at heart, the Deep South often serves as the setting for her Paranormal Tales of the unknown. Her Charismatic characters and snarky banter often derive from the various personas of those she loves and the voices in her head. When not writing she spends her time telling everyone else in the world that they are completely bonkers but yet she often channels Napoleon Bonaparte. During her down time she pokes at the massive giant whom holds her captive and runs from two monsters that she swears are out to kill her. Some people call them her husband and children but she knows the truth...

This book I was kinda worried about because of the length.  I haven't had a lot of good experiences when it comes to books past 250 pages.  So this one being 324 I was very scared to read it.

Well after a few chapters into it I was hooked.  I couldn't put it down.  I did end up taking three days to read it to my horror.  But thats just cause I have had a stupid summer cold and dealing with new puppies.

So this book was great!  It is fast paced and has a great story!  So deff check it out!
