#Review The Last Wild by @PiersTorday #Giveaway @VikingChildrens @NightOwlReviews

The Last WildIn a world where animals no longer exist, twelve-year-old Kester Jaynes sometimes feels like he hardly exists either. Locked away in a home for troubled children, he's told there's something wrong with him. So when he meets a flock of talking pigeons and a bossy cockroach, Kester thinks he's finally gone crazy. But the animals have something to say. And they need him. The pigeons fly Kester to a wild place where the last creatures in the land have survived. A wise stag needs Kester's help, and together they must embark on a great journey, joined along the way by an overenthusiastic wolf cub, a military-trained cockroach, a mouse with a ritual for everything, and a stubborn girl named Polly. The animals saved Kester Jaynes. But can Kester save the animals?

Piers Torday was born in Northumberland, which is possibly the one part of England where more animals live than people. After working as a producer and writer in theatre, live comedy and TV, he now lives in London – where there are more animals that you might think. The Last Wild is his first novel, and he is currently working on a sequel. This book should be used in schools!  YES! This book was so good.  I didn't know what to expect going in. But I am very happy that I got a chance to read it.  The book is split into a 6 part adventure which works so well.  It has people who stutter, a boy who only talks to animals, and a world where animals are going extinct.  So what more could you want?  I think this book would be great for kids who are dealing with these issues. And it was also an eye opener to the real issue of animals going extinct.  The main character Kester meets a very large range of animals from small to large.  This book has so much imagination and I think that both kids and teachers as well as some parents would die to read this one.  I loved it and will be buying a copy for my daughters class.

I really want to read this book. I love reading MG books with my children and this sounds wonderful. Two of three of the best books I've read this year have been MG books - actually they were books that were appropriate for any age group. This sounds like a book along the same lines. I want to read and share this book with my children, with my blog audience, and review it. It sounds terrific.
