Love and First Sight by @JoshSundquist @TheNovl #BookReview #Giveaway

In his debut novel, YouTube personality and author of We Should Hang Out Sometime Josh Sundquist explores the nature of love, trust, and romantic attraction.

On his first day at a new school, blind sixteen-year-old Will Porter accidentally groped a girl on the stairs, sat on another student in the cafeteria, and somehow drove a classmate to tears. High school can only go up from here, right?

As Will starts to find his footing, he develops a crush on a charming, quiet girl named Cecily. Then an unprecedented opportunity arises: an experimental surgery that could give Will eyesight for the first time in his life. But learning to see is more difficult than Will ever imagined, and he soon discovers that the sighted world has been keeping secrets. It turns out Cecily doesn't meet traditional definitions of beauty--in fact, everything he'd heard about her appearance was a lie engineered by their so-called friends to get the two of them together. Does it matter what Cecily looks like? No, not really. But then why does Will feel so betrayed?

Told with humor and breathtaking poignancy, Love and First Sight is a story about how we related to each other and the world around us.

I wasn't very sure about this book when I started.  I am very hit and miss when it comes to contemporary stories. But this one hit it out of the park and it was love at first sight for this reader. This story is more than a story its one boy's journey to finding his way in life. I can't imagine what it would feel like to not have been able to see from birth or any age for that matter. But I have known people who were. And they were in some parts better off than I was. Their quality of life is no different than those who can see. Things are just different.

I loved that this story centered around the locations of school and home. It make the world still feel vast but very down to earth. The flow of the story worked well and I finished this in a few hours it was just that good.  The main character Will was great the author did a wonderful job putting us in his shoes and you just can't help but feel everything he went through.  The side characters were also great the author again did a wonderful job with them all. For this one my favorite character would have to be Will. He grew so much in this book and you just can't help but love him. I do wish that the ending would have went further. I wish the author would have skipped ahead 10 or 15 years so we could have seen what Will and his friends were up to after school. However, the ending was very good if slightly short.

This is one book that if you pick it up you won't be able to put it down!
