#BookReview: Lighter Than My Shadow by Katie Green

Like most kids, Katie was a picky eater. She'd sit at the table in silent protest, hide uneaten toast in her bedroom, listen to parental threats that she'd have to eat it for breakfast.

But in any life a set of circumstance can collide, and normal behavior might soon shade into something sinister, something deadly.

Lighter Than My Shadow is a hand-drawn story of struggle and recovery, a trip into the black heart of a taboo illness, an exposure of those who are so weak as to prey on the vulnerable, and an inspiration to anybody who believes in the human power to endure towards happiness.

Sexual Abuse, Eating Disorders, Mental Disorders

Katie Green is an artist and illustrator. She has published a regular zine, The Green Bean, since 2010.

First, off If you like memoirs about mental illness, you may be interested in this title, but otherwise, I'd pass it up. Second, this book is HEAVY! I dont know if the finished copy will this size but if it is be warned this is NOT the book you want to tote around town.

This book was pretty good it was full of interesting and very intriguing pictures of mental illness and eating disorders and sexual assault. I really enjoyed the premise of this one and it is an eye-opener to this world.  Although I have never had a lot of the issues depicted in this title it was a journey.
