#BookReview: Into the Hourglass (The Evermore Chronicles #2) by @Emily_R_King

Synopsis: In the second book in The Evermore Chronicles by Emily R. King, Everley Donovan plunges into the roiling waves of a strange new world to hunt a wicked prince who cheated time.

Everley Donovan’s mission: retrieve the hallowed sword of Avelyn stolen by the wicked Prince Killian, who slayed her family and left her for dead. Should she fail, the seven worlds will come to an end, as could time itself. And no one treasures time more than Everley, whose lifesaving clock heart cannot beat forever. She has set sail with a rogue crew for the otherworlds, where the key to dethroning the prince lies deep within the Land Under the Wave.

But passage through these unknown seas—where horrors lurk and pirates rove—proves a treacherous gamble. The Land Under the Wave was not made for humans, particularly one with a fragile clock heart. Here, Everley’s tragic past resurfaces unsolved questions. Here, too, the prince has hidden secrets more precious than pearls, secrets that could fracture the future forevermore. Everley must take back her sword and break free from this watery world before her time runs out…or so will everyone else’s.

My Review: These covers just keep getting better and better!! I fell so in love with the first one and this one is even more gorgeous! This story picks up and were off on a new story by King.  I have to say that over the years a few author stick out more than others and King is definitely one of those.  Her stories are just so engaging and vivid that when I start one I just can't put it down!  Where book one has us set from one country to an island this one expands the world into seven worlds and man o man I can not wait for another installment.  I think this could be one of those really long series that each stands on its own as a stellar title.  I know that we only have one more title with this series but I really hope that chances and we get one for each of the worlds.  I think that this world is just so vast and beautiful that I just don't want to leave it behind.

If you loved book one then you will fall head over heels with this one.  It has the romance between Everley and Jamison blooming even more and other characters are back for even more of them.  Everything was just pretty perfect in this second installment of The Evermore Chronicles and I need more NOW!!

“Readers will be drawn to this first in a new series from King (The Hundredth Queen Series) for the extensive mythology and the quickly paced adventures. Despite her delicate ticker, Everley herself is anything but fragile: her acerbic wit and single-minded focus on avenging her family will endear her to readers eager for a heroine neither perfect nor nice.” Booklist
“Readers who enjoy plot-driven narratives will eagerly look forward to the second book in the series.” Kirkus Reviews
“An inherently engaging read from cover to cover, Emily R. King’s Before the Broken Star is a riveting and original novel by an author with a natural flair for an entertaining narrative storytelling style.” —Midwest Book Review
“Filled with action, romance, and female friendships, this story is perfect for those looking for high seas adventure, mythical creatures, and a villain who is just as brutal as he is cunning. With masterful plotting and beautiful writing, Before the Broken Star is a high-concept idea wonderfully executed.” —Tricia Levenseller, author of the Daughter of the Pirate King duology
“An epic quest for revenge tests the limits of Everley’s mysterious clock heart and her dauntless spirit in this wildly imaginative adventure story. A pulse-pounding read that gripped me on every page.” —Kathryn Purdie, #1 New York Times bestselling author of Burning Glass
