When they strike up an affair, to the displeasure of her father and Samson’s widowed, pregnant sister, Ada is torn between her old way of life and new possibilities with her lover—and eventually comes to a decision that will forever change Samson, the town, and the Ground itself.

About the Author: Simon Jimenez’s short fiction has appeared in Canyon Voices and 100 Word Story’s anthology of flash fiction, Nothing Short Of. He received his MFA from Emerson College. This is his first novel.

My Review: This was another title that I grabbed because of this amazing cover. The story was haunting and enchanting. I think it could have felt a little more real for the magical realism but for the most part this book was fabulous. The characters were all there and the blend of writing styles worked well.
