#BookReview: On the Isle of Sound and Wonder by @dreamstobecome

Synopsis: Wild Mira knows the island better than anyone, and she knows the patterns of the sea and sky.

She knows, too, that the storm that brings a shipwreck to her island's shores is not natural, but is summoned by her father's dark, strange powers.

On the return voyage from his sister’s wedding to a foreign noble, Prince Ferran’s airship crashes during a storm.

Ferran’s father, uncle, and the rest of the royal party are all separated in the aftermath, scattered across a seemingly uninhabited island.

What they don’t know is the storm was manufactured with magic - and the man who summoned it has been waiting to exact his revenge on them all for a long time.

On the Isle of Sound and Wonder is a driving, fantastical, lyrical retelling of William Shakespeare’s The Tempest set in a world just adjacent of our own.

My Review: This was a great retelling of the classes story "The Tempest".  I really enjoyed this one and can't wait for another.  I hope this author does another classic retelling soon as I really loved this one.  The characters were wonderful and the pacing was beautifully done.

From the foreword by Tee Morris, award-winning author of the Ministry of Peculiar Occurrences series, Podcasting for Dummies, Twitch for Dummies, and more:

"[Alyson] made her professional debut as a writer with The Ministry of Peculiar Occurrences and drove the legend of Frankenstein even deeper into steampunk. Now, she was going to steampunk Shakespeare's epic farewell to the stage, the play I hold so close and dear to my heart? Of course she would. If you are a fan of steampunk, you will enjoy this lush tale of science and alchemy. If you are a fan of Shakespeare, you will enjoy this adventure of redemption, betrayal, and romance. If you are a fan of both--as I am--On the Isle of Sound and Wonder is truly the best of both worlds. [...] In the case of Alyson Grauer's debut novel, those cloud-capp'd towers, gorgeous palaces, and great globe are all captured in a book. You can return to that world. Anytime. Thank you, Aly, for this astounding trick of strong imagination."
