#BookReview: The Raven Key (The Famirian Chronicles #1) by Harper L. Carnes

Synopsis: Possessed. Dangerous. Monster. Seth Cunningham is haunted by the words his mother yelled after she tried to drown him in the pond behind their house, when he was six.

It’s been almost twelve years since that night, but Seth is still struggling to live a normal life alongside his horrific nightmares and sense of loss. He finds some comfort when a romance sparks with Gabriel, a kindhearted college senior that isn’t scared off so easily by Seth’s past, or his pain.

But something inside him is awakening. It speaks to him in a voice only he and the ravens that serve it can hear. A presence that carries with it a terrible hunger that becomes hard to resist.

To save himself and those he loves, Seth will have to search out the truth of who he was meant to be, and the dark past his mother fled.

Rating: ⭐⭐
My Review: This LGBT story should have been great but sadly it had so many different characters and plot lines it was hard to really care about anyone.  The story did flow half way decently but with that amount of characters with an under 400 pages it was a lot.  And I found myself having to reread sections over and over to really grasp the story.  This one reminds me of the same issues I had with Priory with the Orange Tree.

Harper L. Carnes has been writing ever since she figured out she could escape into worlds of fantasy by typing on a keyboard.

As a survivor of trauma and PTSD, her stories tend towards an exploration of darker themes, though there’s typically light and hope at the end of her tales.

Outside of writing Harper enjoys traveling to places near and far, spending time getting lost in a good book or TV show, and having spirited conversations with friends.

She currently resides in Michigan with her pampered pooch Minnie and various exotic pets.
