To Dream in Darkness was such a beautiful audiobook! I loved the combination of Chinese mythology, gods, magic, and romance. Rujia and Death made such an interesting pair, and I really enjoyed watching their relationship develop as they traveled across the realms together.
The story had plenty of adventure, mystery, and emotion, with a wonderfully atmospheric setting that made it easy to get swept up in the world. I especially loved the themes of fate, sacrifice, and the choices the characters make when they’re faced with impossible situations.
This was a captivating listen and a great introduction to Ann Liang’s historical fantasy. Definitely one to check out if you enjoy mythology, slow-burn romance, and beautifully imagined fantasy worlds.
