This week, we’re talking about surprise favorites.
Have you ever picked up a book without expecting much from it, only to find yourself completely hooked? Maybe the cover caught your attention. Maybe someone recommended it. Maybe you grabbed it because it was on sale, available through the library, or simply next on your TBR. Whatever the reason, you started reading with fairly low expectations—and then the book completely surprised you.
Those are some of the best reading experiences.
Sometimes a book we almost skip ends up becoming a new favorite. A genre we don't normally read suddenly works. An author we've never tried becomes someone we immediately want to read more from. Or maybe a book that had been sitting unread on our shelves for months—or even years—turns out to be exactly what we needed.
So, let's talk about it:
What book did you pick up with low or no expectations but ended up absolutely loving?
Tell us the title and author, and if you want, tell us what surprised you about it. Was it the characters? The romance? The plot? The writing? A completely unexpected twist? Or maybe you simply didn't think it would be your kind of book and it proved you wrong.
