Ashes of Austen was such a deliciously dark and gothic take on Northanger Abbey! I loved the atmosphere of the crumbling abbey, the mystery surrounding the deadly bridal curse, and the constant feeling that danger was lurking around every corner. Julianna and Victor had an intense, complicated chemistry that kept me hooked, and I really enjoyed the blend of gothic suspense, dark romance, secrets, and obsession. A fun modern Austen retelling with plenty of twists and a wonderfully sinister atmosphere.
