There are so many books out there, and with an ever-growing TBR, sometimes it can be hard to know what deserves a spot on your list. That's where Jessica Recommends comes in.
Each week, I'll be sharing a book, series, audiobook, or reading experience that I think is worth talking about. These aren't necessarily going to be books that received five stars from me—sometimes they're books that surprised me, changed my mind, introduced me to something new, or simply gave me a reading experience I really enjoyed.
And because this is my recommendation, I'll also tell you why I think you should give it a try.

Sometimes a book isn't for you.
And sometimes, you just need to listen to it instead.
That is exactly what happened to me with the Zodiac Academy series by Caroline Peckham and Susanne Valenti.
I originally tried reading the series and DNFed it. I just couldn't get into it. The story wasn't clicking for me, and I eventually decided that Zodiac Academy simply wasn't going to be one of those series I loved.
Then I gave the audiobooks a chance.
What a difference.
I absolutely LOVE these audiobooks.
The narration brings so much personality to the characters, and hearing the dialogue and emotions rather than simply reading the words completely changed the experience for me. Characters that I struggled to connect with on the page suddenly felt much more alive, and before I knew it, I was invested in the story and wanting to know what happened next.
And this wasn't just Awakening. The audiobook experience worked for me throughout the entire series.
It's honestly one of my favorite examples of how the format you choose can completely change your experience with a story. A series that I couldn't finish reading became a series I genuinely wanted to keep listening to.
So if you've tried Zodiac Academy before and found yourself struggling with it, I have one suggestion:
Try the audiobooks.
I can't promise they'll change your mind, but they completely changed mine.
