#BookBlitz: Buried Roots by @terrajw @XpressoTours $100 Amazon gift card

Buried Roots
Terra Weiss
Publication date: September 5th 2023
Genres: Adult, Comedy, Mystery, Romance

I might’ve found my own grave.

Or not, but I don’t have time to figure it out. A perfect stranger willed me his neglected fifty-acre farm, and now, this New Yorker has two weeks to get it sell-ready. With a business to run, I can’t stay in this boondock town a second longer.

But I’ve got it handled—even after a series of suspicious property mishaps. Even after the threatening notes.

My veterinarian neighbor Owen Brooks shows up with a sledgehammer, a wicked sexy smile, and Demon, his appropriately named foster bulldog. But after losing my family, I only rely on myself.

That doesn’t stop Owen and the town of Violet Moon from showing up for me. Maybe family isn’t just blood.

Owen and I can’t deny our magnetic connection as we restore the historic estate. But the more we dig, the more my disturbing buried roots surface. I have to confront that grave… and my bombshell family secret.

*Buried Roots is a grittier, heartfelt romcom mystery with adult language and steamy, open-door chemistry that will have you rooting for a happily-ever-after.

She’s his greatest temptation. He’s her biggest risk. Together, they just might fall...

Jabari

Love? I don’t do that anymore. I’ve had my fill of betrayal, of trusting the wrong people, of letting my guard down only to be burned. My life is about control now—running the Freeman family empire, upholding our legacy, and keeping my heart locked behind walls no one can break.

Then she shows up.

Sierra Watson is nothing like the women I’ve known—bold, beautiful, and completely unimpressed by me. She challenges me, meets my sharp edges with smooth confidence, and refuses to be anything less than herself. I should stay away. I need to stay away. But when she looks at me, I feel something shift, something crack open that I thought was long dead.

But love has cost me before, and I can’t afford to lose again.

Sierra

I don’t have time for love. Not when my family is depending on me. Not when my sister’s reckless decisions have forced me into a second job I never wanted, working for the powerful Freeman family to clean up a mess I didn’t make.

Then I meet him.

Jabari Freeman is infuriating—cold, controlled, and way too arrogant for his own good. He pushes, I push back. But the more I fight it, the harder it becomes to ignore the fire between us. And when that fire ignites, it’s impossible to put out.

But love has never come without sacrifice for me. And just when I think I might finally have something for myself, the life I’ve been trying to escape comes crashing back in.

Jabari has his own demons to fight, and I have mine. The question is… are we strong enough to fight for each other?

🔥 Enemies-to-lovers tension 🔥 Irresistible chemistry 🔥 Steamy Small Town Romance 🔥 A love worth risking everything for Set against the lush backdrop of Southern Maryland’s Chesapeake Heights, Free to Fall is a soulful story of resilience, redemption, featuring the Freeman family. #Review of Dorothy Must Die by @daniellempaige

I didn't ask for any of this. I didn't ask to be some kind of hero.

But when your whole life gets swept up by a tornado—taking you with it—you have no choice but to go along, you know?

Sure, I've read the books. I've seen the movies. I know the song about the rainbow and the happy little blue birds. But I never expected Oz to look like this. To be a place where Good Witches can't be trusted, Wicked Witches may just be the good guys, and winged monkeys can be executed for acts of rebellion. There's still the yellow brick road, though—but even that's crumbling.

What happened? Dorothy.

They say she found a way to come back to Oz. They say she seized power and the power went to her head. And now no one is safe.

My name is Amy Gumm—and I'm the other girl from Kansas.

I've been recruited by the Revolutionary Order of the Wicked.

I've been trained to fight.

And I have a mission.

How to Hang a Witch (How to Hang a Witch #1) by @AdrianaMather #BookReview #Giveaway

It's the Salem Witch Trials meets Mean Girls in a debut novel from one of the descendants of Cotton Mather, where the trials of high school start to feel like a modern day witch hunt for a teen with all the wrong connections to Salem’s past.

Salem, Massachusetts is the site of the infamous witch trials and the new home of Samantha Mather. Recently transplanted from New York City, Sam and her stepmother are not exactly welcomed with open arms. Sam is the descendant of Cotton Mather, one of the men responsible for those trials and almost immediately, she becomes the enemy of a group of girls who call themselves The Descendants. And guess who their ancestors were?

If dealing with that weren't enough, Sam also comes face to face with a real live (well technically dead) ghost. A handsome, angry ghost who wants Sam to stop touching his stuff. But soon Sam discovers she is at the center of a centuries old curse affecting anyone with ties to the trials. Sam must come to terms with the ghost and find a way to work with The Descendants to stop a deadly cycle that has been going on since the first accused witch was hanged. If any town should have learned its lesson, it's Salem. But history may be about to repeat itself.

Black Reign MC (#10)

Motorcycle Club Romance

Date Published: 1/17/25

Who knew we’d get ambushed by the cartel on our way to a village deep in the Amazon jungle?

Holly: I was sick as a kid. Leukemia. Felt like someone always had to drop everything to take care of me. Hate being dependent on people now, so I try to do everything myself. When my best friend takes up with a creep and won’t believe me when I tell her something’s not right with the man, I decide it’s safer (for her) if I go with her on a trip to Columbia he’s organizing. Bad news: I’m right. Fortunately the most annoying man I’ve ever come to count on thinks it’s his job to rescue me. This time, I might just let him. And that’s where the trouble starts…

Jax: I’ve known Holly nearly all her life. I’ve been her protector and the person she wants most when things go horribly wrong, which they do, more often than not. To say we have a contentious relationship is an understatement. I put a claim on Holly she never accepted, but it’s time to force the issue. Not because she doesn’t love me. Because she’s afraid history is doomed to repeat itself. She’s wrong. I’ll always come for her when she needs me. Like it or not, Holly’s more than my responsibility. No matter the cost, she’s mine.

#BookBlitz: The Broken Protector by @Nicolesnowbooks @XpressoTours $10 Amazon gift card + signed copy of The Broken Protector

The Broken Protector
Nicole Snow
Publication date: June 22nd 2023
Genres: Adult, Contemporary, Romance

Starting over isn’t easy when an unexpected hero crashes her plans in this steamy and gripping new small-town enemies-to-lovers romance by Wall Street Journal bestselling author Nicole Snow.

My fresh start turned into a dumpster fire.
Awesome new job. Small town heaven. Friendly faces galore.
Then I strolled into my new home and found the unspeakable.
Just when I’m sure it can’t get worse, I’m “rescued” by a man who makes me see red for miles.

Enter Lucas Graves.
A bossy grump with a badge who’s sworn to keep me safe.
He rocks the scary-hot vibe, he reads too much, and he never misses a chance to give me crap for being a nerdy little cactus who mouths back.
Not the type of man I’d go for in my right mind.
Definitely not the type I should keep trading bruising kisses with.

Redhaven, North Carolina has driven me insane.
Why else does my heart race when Lucas gets jealous and overprotective?
How could I think he’ll ever share more than another reckless night?
He guards his own battered heart as fiercely as he watches over me.

It can’t get more complicated.
Oh, but then it does.
There’s a razor-thin line between heartbreak and hope with a broken protector.
He’s so wrong for me I could scream.
But I’m not losing sleep over the very real danger I’m in.
I’m terrified that Lucas Graves might be the best thing that’s ever happened—if he’d let us happen at all.

This big slice of feel-good small-town romance brings enemies to lovers fire, hilarious sweetness, heart-thumping suspense, and all the butterflies. Smile yourself silly as one big bossy lunk tries to keep his heart and his secrets from the headstrong new girl destined to make him whole.

Making this existential crisis way worse is Noah—the adorkable and (in Charity’s opinion) diabolical ex of one of her past clients—who blames her for sabotaging his prom plans and claims her interventions are doing more harm than good. He demands that she stop granting wishes and help him get his girl back. At first, Charity has no choice but to play along. But soon, Noah becomes an unexpected ally in getting to the bottom of the glimpses. Before long, Charity dares to call him her friend…and even starts to wish he were something more. Synopsis: Love Is Blind meets You’ve Got Mail in this laugh-out-loud romantic comedy following two thirty-somethings who meet on a blind dating app—only to realize that their online chemistry is nothing compared to their offline rivalry.

Perpetually cheerful and eager to please, Gracie Cooper strives to make the best out of every situation. She soon finds out that the store’s profit margins are being squeezed perilously tight, and complicating matters further, a giant corporation headed by the impossibly handsome, but irritatingly arrogant Sebastian Andrews is proposing a buyout. But Gracie can’t bear the thought of throwing away her father’s dream like she did her own.

Overwhelmed and not wanting to admit to her friends or family that she’s having second thoughts about the shop, Gracie seeks advice and solace from someone she’s never met—the faceless “Sir”, with whom she connected on a blind dating app where matches get to know each other through messages and common interests before exchanging real names or photos.

But although Gracie finds herself slowly falling for Sir online, she has no idea she’s already met him in real life…and they can’t stand each other.

Author Thursday: Sadie Grubor

Today we have author Sadie Grubor thanks again to The Cover Contessa along with Never Too Old for YA Books on Goodreads, are excited to welcome author Sadie Grubor for an interview.

Here are Sadie's books:

And here's a little about Sadie!
Sadie Grubor has always had an active imagination and creative streak. Having written stories and journal upon journal of soul exposure throughout her years, it still comes as a surprise when people actual want to read and enjoy her work.
A self-proclaimed, foul-mouthed, book nerd, who loves reading genres ranging from Young Adult to Horror to Erotica, she embraces her Computer Geekdom through the Internet. You can find her on FaceBook, Twitter - @SadieGrubor, and her website - http://www.sadiegrubor.webs.com
Sadie Grubor is the adult-alter author of Young Adult Writer, Saewod Tice.

So Let's hear what Sadie had to say in answer to our questions:

When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer?
I didn't really realize I wanted to be a writer. I can honestly say it just happened. I've always enjoyed writing. Growing up I kept journals documenting my thoughts and feelings, small stories, poems, and doodles. It sort of morphed into writing stories for kids, for my kids. Then I started to want more from stories I read, or got ideas, and began to write.

How long does it take you to write a book?
It depends on the time I have on my hands and inspiration. I've written a book in a week and I have others that I've been working on for a couple years.

What do you think makes a great story?
This is something that differs for just about everyone – according to their taste. But I truly believe that, no matter the genre, you have to write something that makes you feel. Whether it's desire, romance, sadness, horror, if you feel it when you write it, then it will come across to the reader in your work.

What is your work schedule like when you're writing?
Since I'm the mother of two, full time day job working, wife to one handsome geek, my schedule is erratic and crazy. I try to sit down and allot time for writing, but this doesn't usually work out.

How do you balance family and writing?
As for how to balance, I'm not so sure I have balancing down yet. The writing time does suffer and often lose. Family comes first. My kids and husband mean the world to me. My writing is typically done late in the evening/night.

Where do you get your information or ideas for your books?
The internet is my largest tool. Google provides me such an extensive pool of information to research.

What was one of the most surprising things you learned in creating your books?
That people would actually enjoy reading them. Like really, really like my books and be interested enough to want to read more of them. I'm still surprised when someone reaches out to tell me how much they enjoyed the book and want more. It's extremely flattering and fulfilling.

How many books have you written? Which is your favourite?
Written and published works would be four. Under author name Saewod Tice, I released a Young Adult post apocalyptic book titled Amongst the Ruins. This was my first published work. Second, came Live-In Position by VS Tice. This is a romantic chick-lit style book that was published before my Sadie Grubor personal was fully developed. Then came the self published books, Falling Stars & Stellar Evolution under Sadie Grubor. I have multiple completed books which are with BETA readers, proofers, and/or editors. On top of those, I have a few unfinished manuscripts that I'm still working through the development.

Are your characters based on anyone you know?
I do draw inspiration from people around me. Though, I've never truly had one character replicate someone I know.

Do you have a favourite place you love to write?
Wherever I can focus and listen to my music. Music is a big inspirational piece for me.

How hard is it to get published?
Being published is not a simple task in any regard. I got extremely lucky with my first book and was picked up really quickly; however, I've got a large file full of rejection letters from publishers. It takes time, dedication, a thick skin, and a willingness to take advice and feedback. Even self publishing is a challenging task. You have only yourself to rely on and only you to take the heat for negative responses.

What do your family and friends think about your books?
I'm thankful to have amazing friends and family. They are one hundred percent supportive of everything I do. They also harass me frequently for the next book and such.

What do you like to do when you are not writing?
I'm an avid horror flick watching woman. And I have a penchant for horrible B films. Heck even C & D films. LOL Netflix, Hulu and I seem to have a special understanding. Reading, of course, is a huge part of my life. Romance, Science fiction, Horror, Erotica, I'll pretty much give anything a shot as long as the writing is good.

Do you have any suggestions to help aspiring writers better themselves and their craft?
If so, what are they? You will be constantly learning. Grow a thick skin, and stay open to the criticism and critique. Learn from your mistakes. These are the biggest things I've learned.

As a child, what did you want to do when you grew up?
Wonder Woman. Then it was the Phoenix from Xmen. Yeah, so I had a bit of a nerdy comic book childhood.

What are your favourite books and which authors inspire you?
Asking me to list my favorite books is like asking me to pick my favorite kid. (LOL) Short List of Authors (this too is painful): Stephen King (twisted scares are amazing) Lisa Kleypas (she gives good regency) RL Mathewson (take care of yourself girl!) Alice Clayton (her humor is the best) Richard Laymon (gory horror and taboo horror at its finest) Kristen Ashley (for so many wonderful reasons) Truly there are so many that I could go on and on and on – and ON.

For an aspiring writer what do you feel are certain do's and don’ts for getting their material published? DO listen to critiques. DON’T let criticism get to you. I've seen many authors fall into the trap of reacting to bad reviews or comments. This will get you put on a do not read list so fast, regardless if the bad reviewer or criticizer was originally in the wrong. The trick is to either ignore the criticism all together by not reading them. Or, if you're skin is thick enough and you can restrain from lashing out, read and see if you can learn anything from them. Or at least get a good laugh from them. DO stand by your work. DON'T let a publisher or editor change the core of your story. This actually almost happened to me with Falling Stars. The publisher that originally had this manuscript wanted me to change Christopher to make him more likable. They also wanted me to cut the story so that Chris and Mia were together faster. We went back and forth with FS and it was pushed back a couple times. I was lucky enough to have the story released back to me, so I could publish it myself.

What are you working on now?
I'm working on the next Falling Stars novel: Hidden in the Stars. This tale will follow Jackson after Stellar Evolution. I won't say too much, just in case you haven't read the follow-up novella. This is in the writing phase, though I will say that I've been distracted with ideas for the possibility of another story to follow Jacksons. There are also two more manuscripts with editors, proofers and BETA readers. My editor has my marriage of convenience book in her hands – the Modern Arrangement series. She has book one out of the three. Then I have another book with a BETA and proof reader. I'm planning on a busy 2013.
