{Review & Giveaway} The Misty Harbor Inn

Whispers on the Dock
Three sisters. A charming inn. Hints of mystery and romance. And a gorgeous seaside setting. Escape to Misty Harbor Inn.
As Nantucket reaches the pinnacle of its summer glory, and the Marris sisters welcome guests at Misty Harbor Inn, youngest sister Sam Carter enters her mother’s cobbler recipe in the Summerfest baking contest. But she faces a formidable opponent, a past winner who is determined to keep her title even if it means stooping to dirty tactics. Can Sam’s newfound faith help her rise above the fray and reach out to this lonely woman? Meanwhile, an elderly guest arrives who knows the inn’s history, and the sisters are stunned to learn that their late mother lived there as a child. But she told them she’d never been to Nantucket until her honeymoon! Through the woman’s reminiscences and photos, the sisters make an intriguing discovery — not only about the mysterious Hannah Montague, the young woman who disappeared from the house in 1880, but also about their own family history.
Readers will delight in the inviting Nantucket setting and be enthralled by the adventures of these sisters who reunite to bring their mother’s Misty Harbor dreams to life.

I really wish I hadnt read this one so fast after the first one.  It is repeats on things that happened in book one constantly.  Although that irritated me a little, I think that it will come in handy for kids who have an issue remembering what they have read as well as those who do not get to read these one right after the other.  This story picks up a few months after the first book and will take kids on an exciting journey through the lives of 4 kids who are training to become Magi. It was a great continuing story and I so cant wait to get a hold of book three!

{Review} CarniePunk @GalleryBooks

Carniepunk
A star-studded urban fantasy anthology featuring bestselling authors Rachel Caine, Rob Thurman, Seanan McGuire, Jennifer Estep, and Kevin Hearne, whose stories explore the creepy, mysterious, and, yes, sometimes magical world of traveling carnivals.

The traveling carnival is a leftover of a bygone era, a curiosity lurking on the outskirts of town. It is a place of contradictions—the bright lights mask the peeling paint; a carnie in greasy overalls slinks away from the direction of the Barker’s seductive call. It is a place of illusion—is that woman’s beard real? How can she live locked in that watery box? And while many are tricked by sleight of hand, there are hints of something truly magical going on. One must remain alert and learn quickly the unwritten rules of this dark show. To beat the carnival, one had better have either a whole lot of luck or a whole lot of guns—or maybe some magic of one’s own.  Featuring stories grotesque and comical, outrageous and action-packed,Carniepunk is the first anthology to channel the energy and attitude of urban fantasy into the bizarre world of creaking machinery, twisted myths, and vivid new magic.

This is one of those books I hate to love.  As most of them are novella from existing series they make me want to read the full series! So I end up spending tons of money to buy each one.  Yes I know good for the author bad for my bills lol.  So this one was no exception!  Some of the stories were great and amazing and some of them fell flat for me. But all in all it was a great read!  Now its off to make a list of these series to see which ones I need to buy!

When I started this book I didnt hold much out for it.  Ive read a lot of middle school books and they have fallen flat via the plot and the characters.  But, surprisingly this book not only supassed what I was expecting but it blew up in my face and made me read it in a day (ya took about three days getting ready for school) But it was just a wonderful surprise!  I am so glad that I got to not only read this. But, also share it with my 9 year old whom loved it even more!  She is currently re reading it to her two year old sister!  This book is full of wonderful characters and would appeal to both boys and girls of middle school age or even younger.  So if you love fantasy or are a fan of Harry Potter or Percy Jackson etc. Than deff pick this book up!
