{Spotlight} Amethyst Eyes @amethysteyes01 @gmtaliterary

The biggest thing on 15-year-old Tommy's mind is convincing Mom to let him go to the drive-in, but when an accident claims his mother's life and puts him in the hospital, the arrival of his estranged, alien father brings more changes than he had bargained for. It doesn't take his father long to figure out that Tommy knows nothing about who or what he is. Without any explanation, Tommy finds himself onboard his father's spaceship where he is forced to trust a man he does not know in a world he knows even less about.
Adapting to his new life seems overwhelming, and his father's solution may prove to be Tommy's finest challenge yet...Jayden. A few months younger than Tommy, high strung and always in a mood, the doctor's daughter definitely didn't like being 'told' to help Tommy fit in. Jayden is not the most welcoming or patient of tutors, let alone a friend. As fate would have it, Tommy quickly learns that none of these things compare to the peril that comes from being born with amethyst eyes.

Biography

For as long as she can remember, Debbie has been creating stories in her head. She hated to go anywhere without a pen and paper, just in case. As a graduate of the Institute of Children's literature, while pursuing yet another writing course, she finds herself doing what she loves . . . learning and writing. The course gives her an excuse to just sit down and write. Over the years she has worked as a nurse, a teacher, a martial arts instructor and a CIC officer in the Canadian Forces. Her hobbies have varied from woodworking, to auto-mechanics, with music, painting, karate, holistic medicine, gardening and camping thrown into the mix. Let's not forget reading. Debbie's perfect cure for a long winter's night is curling up in front of a fire with a good book while snowflakes drift slowly past the window. Never having been much of a city girl, she lives with two of her four children, her husband Jean-Pierre and their pets in the Laurentian Mountains of Quebec. She couldn't imagine life without the beauty found in the trees, mountains and lakes that surround her.

{Review} {Giveaway} Vitro @jkbibliophile @Razorbill

VitroA death-defying tropical adventure delivers a frightening message about dabbling with creation from the talented author of Origin.

On a remote island in the Pacific, Corpus scientists have taken test tube embryos and given them life. These beings—the Vitros—have knowledge and abilities most humans can only dream of. But they also have one enormous flaw.

Sophie Crue is determined to get to Skin Island and find her mother, a scientist who left Sophie behind years ago. She enlists hunky charter pilot Jim Julien to take her there. But once on the island, Sophie and Jim encounter more than they bargained for, including a charming, brilliant Vitro named Nicholas and an innocent, newly awoken one named Lux.

In a race for their lives, Sophie and Jim are about to discover what happens when science stretches too far beyond its reach

Jessica Khoury is 23 years old and was born and raised in Georgia. She attended public school followed by homeschooling, and earned her bachelor's degree in English from Toccoa Falls College. She lives in Toccoa, Georgia with her husband Benjamin, two terrible dogs, and an abundance of books, shoes, and sweet tea. When not writing, she's usually directing stageplays or coaching soccer. Origin is her first novel.

1 Star
I am so sad to write this. I died to get a copy of this book. Even just an eARC and when it came in print I was again over joyed to read it.  Well I sped through Origin which was great. Then went on to Vitro and everything was WONDERFUL until you get to chapter 11.

Then things start falling apart. It all starts off in Two POVs which was great and even the addition of Lux was better.  But when you have Lux and Sophie being mistook for each other you are going to make me believe that a girl (Sophie) who just survived a crash, trekked through the jungle, and has been living in the real world for 17 years is going to pass for (Lux) a girl who has essentially been in a coma in a clean environment for the same duration and to top it all off has a chip in her head.

So you are going to tell me that in the moment of her waking up that the scientists are not going to be monitoring that chip and her vitals?  They they are so smart to create this tech but not smart enough to see that these two girls have been in two completely different situations.  That was a little to far fetched for my takes on this book.
Pic one is how I see Sophie still pretty but normal! Pic two is how I would see Lux clean like REALLY CLEAN!

So as I hope you understand where I'm coming from.  There is no way that within two chapters Sophie and Lux could go from two completely different worlds to going to one where they both look enough the same for these scientists to think they are each other!

{Review} Heartfelt Letters From Santa @HeartfeltSanta {Giveaway} @JKSlitpublicity

Heartfelt Letters from Santa
Helping Santa Create a Tradition for Your Family

The magic of Christmas for children is embodied in Santa Claus. This book shows you how to capture that magic by writing a personal letter from Santa for the child or children who are special to you.

Letters from Santa can describe situations your child has been in, recount good deeds he or she has done, make suggestions for improving behavior, and generally inspire your child in positive directions you see for them.

The finely crafted companion volume is where you will write this special letter each Christmas Eve, after your child has brought their book of Santa’s letters to its honored place near the Christmas tree. On Christmas morning, the whole family can gather around as your child discovers what Santa has written just for them.

As the years pass the book with these letters will grow more and more precious. It will be a chronicle of years past, and a guide for years to come.

It will:
• Transport both the child and the family back to the special moments in life,
• Recap major events in the child’s progression to adulthood, and,
• Remind children of how their biggest fans have stood with them and supported them, with
loving, patience, and humor.

This guide for parents and adults will provide you with excellent ideas, key phrases, and topic areas to consider. It will clearly assist you in writing meaningful and heartfelt letters your child – and the whole family – will love.
Veronica SteckVeronica Steck is a native Texan now living in Missouri. She is the devoted mother of three healthy,
happy children, and is active in both church and her children’s schools. Veronica also partners with her
husband in their financial advisory practice. Her greatest love is spending time with her family and
attending the kids’ sporting events and activities. And, of course, writing letters on behalf of Santa to her children every year.

When she is not taking care of her family, attending school or church functions or ghostwriting for
Santa, Veronica trains for and runs marathons – one of the few activities in which she consistently stays
ahead of her family.

4 STARS
I have always wanted to write letters to my girls from Santa.  And most of the time we end up having a third party do it for us. Which tends to cost us around $20.00 and those letters are so pretty and well done.  But now with this book set we can do it ourselves and really add that personal touch to our daughters letters.  The journal I think would have been better if it would have been in some kind of three ring binder etc.  That way it would have been a keep sake for the letters we create.  Not just something that you write them in.  So all in all this set is a wonderful 4 Stars!

{Review} {Giveaway} Cracked @ElizaCrewe

Cracked (Soul Eater, #1)
Meet Meda. She eats people.

Well, technically, she eats their soul. But she totally promises to only go for people who deserve it. She’s special. It’s not her fault she enjoys it. She can’t help being a bad guy. Besides, what else can she do? Her mother was killed and it’s not like there are any other “soul-eaters” around to show her how to be different. That is, until the three men in suits show up.

They can do what she can do. They’re like her. Meda might finally have a chance to figure out what she is. The problem? They kind of want to kill her. Before they get the chance Meda is rescued by crusaders, members of an elite group dedicated to wiping out Meda’s kind. This is her chance! Play along with the “good guys” and she’ll finally figure out what, exactly, her ‘kind’ is.

Be careful what you wish for. Playing capture the flag with her mortal enemies, babysitting a teenage boy with a hero complex, and trying to keep one step ahead of a too-clever girl are bad enough. But the Hunger is gaining on her.

The more she learns, the worse it gets. And when Meda uncovers a shocking secret about her mother, her past, and her destiny… she may finally give into it.
Eliza CreweEliza Crewe always thought she’d be a lawyer, and even went so far as to complete law school. But as they say, you are what you eat, and considering the number of books Eliza has devoured since childhood, it was inevitable she’d end up in the literary world. She abandoned the lawyer-plan to instead become a librarian and now a writer.

1 Star
This one I had high hopes for.  I loved the idea!  You soon learn that she is a demon which was great! I have read so many books about angels that reading from the other side sounded like a win to me.  The issues started rising when she is saved by non other than a hunky hot crusader~member of an elite group of bikers! that is dedicated to wiping out Meda's kind.  Yes I said bikers whom live in a trailer park and run a school.  That is where it all really fell apart for me.  I just couldn't get into the story. This one has a weird narrating that made it hard to read the book.  Meda is a very sarcastic character and is always seeming to be joking and being sarcastic which really got in the way of the pacing and it made me start to hate her.  This one just really felt like a mash up of eye rolling, monosyllabic, unfluent writing.
