#Review of Mortal Danger (Immortal Game #1) by @MsAnnAguirre

 August 5, 2014
Revenge is a dish best served cold.

Edie Kramer has a score to settle with the beautiful people at Blackbriar Academy. Their cruelty drove her to the brink of despair, and four months ago, she couldn't imagine being strong enough to face her senior year. But thanks to a Faustian compact with the enigmatic Kian, she has the power to make the bullies pay. She's not supposed to think about Kian once the deal is done, but devastating pain burns behind his unearthly beauty, and he's impossible to forget.

In one short summer, her entire life changes, and she sweeps through Blackbriar, prepped to take the beautiful people down from the inside. A whisper here, a look there, and suddenly... bad things are happening. It's a heady rush, seeing her tormentors get what they deserve, but things that seem too good to be true usually are, and soon, the pranks and payback turns from delicious to deadly. Edie is alone in a world teeming with secrets and fiends lurking in the shadows. In this murky morass of devil's bargains, she isn't sure who—or what--she can trust. Not even her own mind..

Biography

New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Ann Aguirre has been a clown, a clerk, a savior of stray kittens, and a voice actress, not necessarily in that order. She grew up in a yellow house across from a cornfield, but now she lives in Mexico with her husband and children. She writes all manner of genre fiction for adults and teens.

I so wanted to love this book! I have been waiting for this book date to come around so I could devour it. And well I'm not happy with it at all.  I finished this book in one day but I don't really know why.

Issue1: Many books now a days have a message. So what is the message in this book? Being beautiful, skinny, and flawless is EVERYTHING!  This book had a great opening.  It is in Edie's POV and she is off to end her life.  It was an amazing opening!  She is on this bridge and ready to plunge to her watery death when this gorgeous guy shows up and stops her.  It goes into him telling her that she gets three favors in return she has to give the people he works for three favors.  And well this was great!  I first though it was like a twist on a new angel story.  But with the favors thing I then thought it was a new story about Genies. Well it goes into Edie deciding that her first favor is going to be.........yup you guessed it she wants to be hot and beautiful! And although I deff would have chosen that as well.  But I don't think it would have solved all of her issues like it did in this book. Which takes me of issue two.

Issue2: So now that she is beautiful did you know that it changes your personality like flipping a switch?  Ya I didnt either! So the once shy, bullied, Edie who is now hot to trot is now this witty talking, bundle of confidence. So that means that she had no time to adjust to being this new person.  I mean it would have been more believable if she would have struggled.  But, in this book the message is clear.  If you are hot and beautiful you have confidence out the butt.  O ya I'm sure you shoot rainbows out of that hole to.

The last thing was that in this book I had an issue with is that in the beginning Edie was going to kill herself because she was being bullied at school for the past three years.  So once she comes back to school after the summer to do her senior year to seek revenge on everyone who wronged her.  You are going to tell me that the super popular kids are just going to accept her into their group because they just can't fathom that she is going to take them down.

Its just one of those books that is full of coincidences.  Where no one works for anything.  Even the ending I could see coming a mile away.  This book was very disappointing. And had all the workings of a great book.

So if you do decide to read this one make sure you know what your getting into.

insta-love
stalker lover
light revenge
almost suicide
paranormal deal with the devil

Last Notes: I don't normally do this but it has to be said.  I love the fact that this started out as a book about being bullied.  And that you should attempt to kill yourself because of it. That you should fight back.  But do I have to drop a 100 lbs and be beautiful to be able to do that? NO I don't and neither do you.  You should love your self for who you are.  And well if you want to be fit then start working out , eat right, etc.  You don't have to go looking for the devil to make a pack for wishes. You can do it on your own and for yourself.  Not for anyone else.  I think Edie was a great girl she just needed to stop caring what others thought and stand up for herself.

I hate it when a book or tv show has no real value. Like what is the point?

Sad to hear it turns out to be dissapointing because the blurb sounds interesting. Could see many possibilites for a great story.

It sounds interesting. I do like the cover. (I think now I just buy books based on their covers! lol)
