Whenever the baby's sleeping, I'm probably busy writing young adult fiction about queer characters, reading books, and having in-depth conversations with friends and family about things like whether Jasmine's character motivation was sufficiently established in Aladdin.

My Review: I don't think I will ever forget this book. This is a powerfully moving book, from start to finish it will educate you. This book gets pretty much everything right about history. Balancing the civil rights aspects and comings-out/developing relationship of two girls is not an easy act and a very interesting one at that. This book is emotionally brutal but it's important. The only complaint I really have about the whole thing is that Linda's initial change of heart felt a little too fast for me. But it's a powerful, emotional story about standing up for what is right. Everyone needs to read it!
