#BookReview: Cemetery Boys by @aidenschmaiden

Synopsis: Yadriel has summoned a ghost, and now he can’t get rid of him.

When his traditional Latinx family has problems accepting his gender, Yadriel becomes determined to prove himself a real brujo. With the help of his cousin and best friend Maritza, he performs the ritual himself, and then sets out to find the ghost of his murdered cousin and set it free.

However, the ghost he summons is actually Julian Diaz, the school’s resident bad boy, and Julian is not about to go quietly into death. He’s determined to find out what happened and tie up some loose ends before he leaves. Left with no choice, Yadriel agrees to help Julian, so that they can both get what they want. But the longer Yadriel spends with Julian, the less he wants to let him leave.

My Review: Cemetery Boys takes you on a journey about a young trans man named Yadriel. He is determined to prove himself as a brujo and a male in the eyes of those around him. However when he accidently summons a ghost named Julian his world is turned upside down. I really enjoyed reading this book so much. It touches on some touchy subjects with some magic thrown in. I also enjoyed watching not only Yadriel's character growth but also that of Julian and those around him. Thomas does an amazing job of really making you feel like you are in their world and will have you on the edge of your seat to try to figure out the mystery as to what happened to Julian. If you are looking for a magical book with amazing representation then this is the book for you. Though I am really sad that their will not be a second book. Also if you have the opportunity to listen to the audio book of this as well their is an amazing interview with the author as well included in the end of the narration.
