#BookReview: The House on Graveyard Lane by Martin Edwards

Rachel Savernake gave a sardonic smile. "Quite a challenge."
The woman in white—surreal artist Damaris Gethin—has invited a select group to the opening of her exhibit "Artist in Crime," held in the eerie subterranean Hades Gallery. As costumed models reenact famously violent deaths, the artist herself portrays Marie Antoinette on the day of her execution, complete with a guillotine on the stage. It's not a prop; within ten minutes of Rachel's promise to solve Damaris's future murder, the artist slips her neck into the collar of the device and the very real blade sends her head rolling at the feet of her horrified audience.
As everyone reels from the shock, Rachel quickly learns that Damaris herself accomplished the deed with the push of a button—a suicide. So then why did she ask Rachel to solve her "murder?"
Keen for the hunt, Rachel begins sniffing around the other invited guests, including a former lover with shady financial dealings, his widowed sister-in-law, and her has-been songwriter friend. Meanwhile, crime reporter Jacob Flint—also in attendance, in hopes of meeting celebrated French beauty Kiki de Villiers, allows his fascination with her to endanger his own life when a ruthless gangster returns to London, looking to take back what's his.
Equal parts thriller and whodunit, THE HOUSE ON GRAVEYARD LANE leads Rachel and Jacob into a viper's pit of suspects, each sneakier and more venomous than the last.
#BookReview: Beach House Rules by Kristy Woodson Harvey @kristywharvey

When Charlotte Sitterly’s husband is arrested for a white-collar crime, she and her daughter Iris are locked out of their house by the FBI and—what’s potentially even worse—thrust into the spotlight of @JuniperShoresSocialite, the town’s snarky anonymous Instagram account. Cut off from her bank accounts and feeling desperate, Charlotte takes up an acquaintance’s offer to stay at a beachfront former bed-and-breakfast that’s home to a community of single mothers and draws plenty of gossip in the small coastal North Carolina town.
Charlotte and Iris find solace and are surprised by how much fun they’re having with the other families despite their circumstances. But when the women discover a secret link between them, it changes everything they thought they knew about the unconventional family they’ve created and leaves them wondering whether their coming together was a coincidence at all. Will the skeletons in the mommune closets help Charlotte and Iris reclaim their place in the Juniper Shores community—or shatter the sisterhood forever?
“Perfect for fans of Elin Hilderbrand and Jennifer Weiner” (Country Living), Beach House Rules is a charming exploration of the joy of friendship, the true meaning of family, and reclaiming the power to reshape our own destiny.

#BookTour: @RABTBookTours A Funny Thing Happened Walking Lost on the Camino De Santiago by Gary Tutty
Thoughts Along the Way of Saint James
Memoir
Date Published: November 6, 2024
The Camino de Santiago pilgrimage, The Way of Saint James, is centuries old and has seen an explosion of interest in recent years. In A Funny Thing Happened Walking Lost on the Camino de Santiago: Thoughts Along the Way of Saint James, the author takes you along on his ups and downs of the thirty-six day journey from Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port, France, to Santiago de Compostela, Spain, on the Camino Frances trail. He shares not only the physical and mental challenges of the five-hundred mile walk for someone in their seventies, but his thoughts along "The Way." Among those thoughts, uninterrupted by any news, music, podcasts, or other technological distractions, are his struggles with his Church and Catholic faith. He describes his times being lost both geographically and spiritually and introduces you to the wonderful people from all over the world, including some Camino Angels, who made his journey special. Tutty takes a serious look at the life-changing potential of the Camino pilgrimage but with a more humorous, self-deprecating approach to himself as a pilgrim.
For those considering walking the Camino de Santiago or just interested in learning more about it, the author shares what led him to his pilgrimage, his initial concerns, the preparation and experiences while walking, the time and financial investment, and his reflections after the walk. He offers a look at the Camino journey that begins before you take your first step and does not end even after your last.
