#Review #Giveaway of Below: Broken Sky (Broken Sky Chronicles #1) by @JChabotAuthor @TurnerPub

No one but the dead dare venture Below . . .

The first volume in this thrilling trilogy opens on the barren plains of Below, where Hokk and his fox sidekick, Nym, live in exile amid the remnants of our modern age.

Overhead, on the floating islands of Above, Elia is trapped in a life of endless toil and drudgery as a laundress for the Mirrored Palace. To Elia, the islands edges are borders that no one dares cross until the ancient ritual that delivers the dead to Below. But a series of natural disasters rumbling through Above sends Elia s world crashing into Hokk s and she falls Below.

Their journey together will propel them across endless plains and through shattered cities in a centuries-old battle for the very earth and sky around them . . ."

Excuse me for a second while I FANGIRL!

ok that's done.

This had got to be one of the BEST dystopian's that's I've read in a while!! The idea of people living on floating islands above dense cloud cover and then others living below those clouds on the earth is just breath taking. Now there are a few other books out there like this. Like Perfect Ruin and Heir to the Sky. BUT!!!! This one I think does such a great job!! The people of above know pretty much nothing about below. They slide their dead down to below etc. but that's about it. They think that it's full of creatures. But their floating islands are slowly breaking apart. And something else but I won't spoil it for you.

As for the people of below. They have no idea what the sun and moon is as no one is still alive that's seen it.

This is a really good dual POV one from above and one from below. It does start the series and leave on a cliffhanger but it was so good I don't even care!!! I need book two NOW!

Ok so characters!  The author did an amazing job with everyone. You have the girl from above and the guy from below. Each one has their strengths and weaknesses. I really loved that the guy from below had faults. I mean he had been tossed out of his city to fend for himself at a very young age. He would have to stay out in the wilderness for 10 years!! He still had 6 left when he saw the girl from Above fall out of the sky. I really loved that he wasn't an all around good guy. To many of these characters are all good with no bad so that was really refreshing.

As for the girl from above (sorry for not using names. I already put the book in my room and I'm typing this up on my phone and I SO don't know how to spell them.) she was also pretty good. I really loved her determination even before falling. She is deft someone to look up to and someone who never gives up.

As for the other characters. I really can't wait for book two which I'm guessing we're going to learn more about who the Torkin (prob spelled WAY WRONG! ) are. So can't wait for that. We really don't find out much about them in this one. As for the city of I think it was called Aron I really loved the ideas of using skyscrapers as places to grow things. The way that some of the animals had been reengineered was also very inventive. Like the chickens who auto loose their feathers.

This was one trip that I won't forget soon and I can't wait to get a finished copy!! If you love dystopian's check this one out ASAP!
