#BookReview: The Hundredth Queen (The Hundredth Queen #1) by @Emily_R_King

He wanted a warrior queen. He got a revolutionary.

As an orphan ward of the Sisterhood, eighteen-year-old Kalinda is destined for nothing more than a life of seclusion and prayer. Plagued by fevers, she’s an unlikely candidate for even a servant’s position, let alone a courtesan or wife. Her sole dream is to continue living in peace in the Sisterhood’s mountain temple.

But a visit from the tyrant Rajah Tarek disrupts Kalinda’s life. Within hours, she is ripped from the comfort of her home, set on a desert trek, and ordered to fight for her place among the rajah’s ninety-nine wives and numerous courtesans. Her only solace comes in the company of her guard, the stoic but kind Captain Deven Naik.

Faced with the danger of a tournament to the death—and her growing affection for Deven—Kalinda has only one hope for escape, and it lies in an arcane, forbidden power buried within her.

This is the second time I have read this title and I am sure to tell you it won't be the last. I love that I can wait for a little while and reread books almost like it is the first time. I couldn't put this one down and I read it in less than a day.  This world that Emily has created is one that you won't soon forget and it is one that will stick with you for some time.  I loved all the characters even ones that I didn't think I would.

This was a wonderful debut for young adult fantasy and it was beyond fantastic! When I first read this I gave it 4 stars but now reading it again I can tell you its a solid 5 star book. The pacing was great and this one has a lot of twists and turns. A few that will rip out your heart and others that will make your heart bloom.  The story was well developed, unique, and different. Lucky for you, you dont have to wait for book two since its already out!  And book three will be here shortly!

This is a wonderful debut that gives the reader a unique new world. I loved Kali she was strong, steady on her feet, and a joy to read about. I loved how she interacted with other characters. Her love interested was even better Devon, he was charming, protective, and loyal and of course, totally swoon-worthy! The rest of the cast were an unusual combo of characters that you just couldn't help to love and hate. From people who had powers. To a villain that will make your blood boil. The author did a fantastic job creating this world and people who live within it.
