Synopsis:
Fourteen-year-old Peter Green can’t remember how he died.
All he has are his pajamas, a silk tie, and a one-way bus ticket to Mrs. Battisworth’s Academy and Haven for Unliving Boys and Girls, a strange and spooky school for dead orphans like himself. But that’s all he needs: the Unliving Academy has everything, from vampires in the hallways, to monsters in the cafeteria, to ghosts in the basement.

And that’s just the teachers; the students are far stranger.

As Pete learns to fit in with his new supernatural schoolmates, he starts to discover his own uniquely undead abilities, and even begins enjoying his life after death…but he just can’t shake the feeling that he’s forgotten something (or somebody!) important.

Somebody he left behind in the land of the living.

Somebody he loved very much.

Somebody who’s in terrible danger.

Peter Green and the Unliving Academy is the captivating first installment of Angelina Allsop’s Unliving series of young adult fantasy novels. If you like reading about fun-filled adventures, fully realized new worlds, and the most unlikely of heroes, you’re sure to love Allsop’s spirited coming-of-age tale.

Fans of Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling, the Charlie Bone Series by Jenny Nimmo, and The Nightmare Before Christmas by Tim Burton will enjoy this young adult fantasy series.

My Review: Although this one does have parts that felt very reptative I still realy enjoyed it.  I ended up reading this one becuase it is more a high middle grade low young adult book vs. a low middle grade book.  So this one was fairly well paced and I loved the connections of family and friends that this book gave me. I could see this book becoming a cartoon much like Steven Universe and others like it. But with a light horror feel to it.  I really enjoyed this title and can not wait for the next one.

Go Into This One Knowing: Family, Siblings, Light Horror, Low Young Adult, Ghosts, Zombies, Mythical Beasts

It is a book full of dead people, that's for sure! Peter Green has died, and now he has to learn how to live the rest of his undead life in Purgatory. It's not as bad as it sounds, though. Purgatory, in this case, is the Afterlife, a place with multiple worlds, dimensions, and ports. Even though he's dead, the one thing that he can't get rid of is school, so he's sent to Mrs. Battisworth's Academy and Haven for Unliving Boys and Girls, a prestigious orphanage-school to continue and complete his education. The goal is to eventually graduate and obtain his memories because everyone upon arriving at the Afterlife only remembers their names and have no recollection of their lives as living and breathing humans or of how they died. There, he makes friends and discovers he can be part of something important. But what he finds out is that danger is everywhere, Afterlife or not. Racing against the clock to find out who he is and save the people he loves the most - his family - can be worse than being dead. Peter Green's story is a quick-to-read book full of ghosts, werewolves, vampires, skeletons, witches, demons, and, of course, humans! It's a fresh Young Adult first novel in a series by Angelina Allsop that I absolutely recommend to fans of this particular genre.

Enthralling, magical, spooky and wonderful!  Every so often a book comes along that is pure enchantment and Peter Green & the Unliving Academy is one such book. Part fantasy, part adventure, part mystery, with a little macabre mixed in; this is a story that will enthrall and enchant teens and adults alike! The setting, the characters, the plot, are woven together beautifully to create a wonderful, one-of-a-kind story that surely leaves a great impression upon the reader! Mystery begets mystery as Pete's world takes a shadowy shape. As the intriguing story unfolds, the atmosphere works nicely with the protagonist's search for answers. The author, A.A. Allsop, has a descriptive and mysterious writing style that really draws the reader in from the very start. I love the way the book is written and how the author so eloquently conveys words. The simple sentences are haunting and beautiful. Everything about this book is enjoyable. Enthralling, magical, spooky and wonderful, this book is one of the most creative and captivating books I have read in a very long time. Read this book today!!

A perfect blend of mystery, monsters, and magic and of course the undead. Let me just tell you: absolutely fabulous! It had me on the edge of my seat from the very first sentence. A perfect blend of mystery, monsters, magic, and, of course, the undead Stories full of rich history and details that contribute to character depth behind the main story plot (and it didn't even take away from the main story). And that ending! What a perfect little bow tie to wrap that whole thing up while still maintaining the hint of endless possibilities. A good read and I will definitely recommend it to anyone who thoroughly enjoys mystery, magic, monsters, a strong character, and an ACTUAL history behind things. The government is there (plus the under-government called The Community), the teachers with ACTUAL lives (that don't just consist of making childrens' lives torture), even the school history is even in it. Not one plot hole! What a miracle nowadays, am I right? I will definitely be coming back for the sequels.

This is a fun and imaginative read. A. A. Allsop places a mystery in an after-life filled with fun monsters and other mystical creatures. We start with a teenage boy who awakens in the afterlife dressed only in striped pajamas and a silk tie. He has no memories but harbors an overwhelming conviction that somebody he loves is in danger. We follow Pete as he finds his bearings and his place at the Dead Orphanage. It's a coming of age story of personal growth and accomplishment. He meets friends and adversaries as he works his way through the mystery of who he is, how he died, who the young girl is who needs his help. But the entire setting is the best Halloween party you've ever been to. Allsop fills this world with wonderful and interesting creatures, but her characters are equally as compelling. This is a book that readers from older children through adults can enjoy.
