#Review The Blessings by @elisejuska #Giveaway @GrandCentralPub

The BlessingsWhen John Blessing dies and leaves behind two small children, the loss reverberates across his extended family for years to come. His young widow, Lauren, finds solace in her large clan of in-laws, while his brother's wife Kate pursues motherhood even at the expense of her marriage. John's teenage nephew Stephen finds himself involved in an act of petty theft that takes a surprising turn, and nephew Alex, a gifted student, travels to Spain and considers the world beyond his family's Northeast Philadelphia neighborhood. Through departures and arrivals, weddings and reunions, THE BLESSINGS reveals the interior worlds of the members of a close-knit Irish-Catholic family and the rituals that unite them.

Another story about a large family.  3 generations share moments of happiness, loss, birthdays, holidays, and evening being the first grandparents. Each character has their own voice and has their POV to share.  The author did this in a great way so not to be confusing at all.  This is deff a book about how family shapes your life.  It was a joy to read.

#Review Starfall by @Michael2264 #Giveaway @K_Teen

Starfall (The Darkborn Legacy, #3)In the newest book in Michael Griffo's mesmerizing Darkborn Legacy series, a small Nebraska town becomes a battleground in a fight between light and dark--and one girl must look to the stars to reclaim her life. . .

Dominy Robineau will never be just a girl again. At sixteen, a curse awakened the animal inside, and now every full moon transforms her into a creature of terrifying power. But she is not alone.

Dom's enemy, Nadine--a descendant of Orion, the Hunter--won't hesitate to kill to increase her strength. There's a new arrival in town too, and shifting alliances that will bring even more secrecy, mystery, and death to Weeping Water. Dom's relationship with her boyfriend Caleb, her connection to her best friend Jess, and everything she believes about her family and her past is about to be put to the test. The only way to keep herself and those she loves alive is to strike a bargain that may destroy the last shreds of her humanity. .
Michael GriffoMichael Griffo was born, raised, and has since relocated to New Jersey. He is an award-winning playwright and all of his plays have been produced throughout the country and in London. Two of his plays -- CLOUDY and 5G/10B -- have been published in Smith & Kraus's Best 10 Minute Plays for 2 Actors: 2005 and CLOUDY is licensed by Playscripts, Inc.

His first novel, BETWEEN BOYFRIENDS, was written under a pseudoymn, Michael Salvatore (which is actually the author's middle name) and is a hilarious piece of gay fiction that is best described as Sex & The City meets Will & Grace. He has also written a novella published in REMEMBERING CHRISTMAS, a gay Christmas anthology.

UNNATURAL, written under the author's real name, is the first book of the Archangel Academy series that also include UNWELCOME and UNAFRAID. UNNATURAL is a young adult novel that explores the relationship of two young outcasts who meet at an all boy's boarding school in north western England. Set against a backdrop of vampires and the supernatural, it is a coming of age story that young and old alike will be able to relate to

Starfall was beyond the best in the Darkborn Legacy series so far. I love how the author blends all the stories of Orion etcetera into the story. Fans of Twilight, Hemlock, and the like will fall in love with this series by author Mickael Griffo. From the breathtaking cover to the last page of the story you will be entangled in its pages.
Dominy was such a great character. From her fiery hair to her curse you will fall in love with Dominy as she tries to just be a normal 16 year old girl. I loved how she won't let the curse get the best of her. She is fighting it tooth and nail. The story and ending in this one will have you screaming now as Dominy finds herself having to strike a bargain that might just destroy everyone she loves.

#Review The Ice Cream Queen of Orchard Street by @SusanJGilman #Giveaway @GrandCentralPub

The Ice Cream Queen of Orchard Street: A NovelIn 1913, little Malka Treynovsky flees Russia with her family. Bedazzled by tales of gold and movie stardom, she tricks them into buying tickets for America. Yet no sooner do they land on the squalid Lower East Side of Manhattan, than Malka is crippled and abandoned in the street.

Taken in by a tough-loving Italian ices peddler, she manages to survive through cunning and inventiveness. As she learns the secrets of his trade, she begins to shape her own destiny. She falls in love with a gorgeous, illiterate radical named Albert, and they set off across America in an ice cream truck. Slowly, she transforms herself into Lillian Dunkle, "The Ice Cream Queen" -- doyenne of an empire of ice cream franchises and a celebrated television personality.

Lillian's rise to fame and fortune spans seventy years and is inextricably linked to the course of American history itself, from Prohibition to the disco days of Studio 54. Yet Lillian Dunkle is nothing like the whimsical motherly persona she crafts for herself in the media. Conniving, profane, and irreverent, she is a supremely complex woman who prefers a good stiff drink to an ice cream cone. And when her past begins to catch up with her, everything she has spent her life building is at stake.

This is a laugh out loud read!  I think it has a little to much word use of the word Darlings.  But other than that I didn't have any issue with this one.  The cover is cute and quirky and the story is just brilliant and complicated.  The cover however donesnt really match the story.  But, Im on with that.  This one gives you an insider look at the live and hardships of immigrant life and should not be missed.
