The Steampunk Chronicles series:
Book 1: The Girl in the Steal Corset (June 2011)
Book 2: The Girl in the Clockwork Collar (June 2012)
When Kady Cross (sometimes better known as USA TODAY bestselling romance author Kathryn Smith) decided to write YA, she had a very clear image in her mind of what she wanted it to look like: “League of Extraordinary Gentlemen meets teen X-Men.”  Not knowing anything about the steampunk genre, Kady’s editor informed her that it was actually steampunk she had set out to write.

One YA debut later (Book 1: The Girl in the Steel Corset, June 2011) Kady is now considered “the first in the genre to gain  loads of buzz without the benefit of name recognition” (Kirkus Reviews) and has become as expert in the genre (see author photo above). Readers will be thrilled to find in her second novel, The Girl in the Clockwork Collar (June 2012), that the setting moves from the gas-lit streets of Victorian London to the melting-pot avenues of early New York city.

Watch out NYC, the automatons are coming.

Book summary
What happens when someone you love becomes a weapon to use against you...
In New York City, 1897, life has never been more thrilling -- or dangerous.
Sixteen-year-old Finley Jayne and her “straynge band of mysfi ts” have journeyed from London to America to rescue their friend Jasper, hauled off by bounty hunters. But Jasper is in the clutches of a devious former friend demanding a trade—the dangerous device Jasper stole from him...for the life of the girl Jasper loves.
One false move from Jasper and the strange clockwork collar around Mei’s neck tightens. And tightens.
From the rough streets of lower Manhattan to elegant Fifth Avenue, the motley crew of teens with supernatural abilities is on Jasper’s elusive trail. And they’re about to discover how far they’ll go for friendship.
More than ever, Finley Jayne will rely on powerful English duke Griffi n King to balance her dark magic with her good side. Yet Griffi n is at war with himself over his secret attraction to Finley...and will risk his life and reputation to save her. Sam, more machine than man, fi nds his moody heart tested by Irish lass Emily—whose own special abilities are no match for the darkness she discovers on the streets.
Now, to help those she’s come to care for so deeply, Finley Jayne must infi ltrate a criminal gang. Only problem is, she might like the dark side a little too much....

Author bio:
In her other life, Kady Cross is a USA TODAY bestselling author of more than twenty books. She is lucky enough to have a husband who shares her love for the slightly twisted and all things geek, and a houseful of cats with whom she shares her darkest secrets. When she’s not listening to the characters in her head, she’s either trying to formulate the perfect lip gloss or teaching herself to solder. She has a weakness for all things girlie, sugar skulls and boots. Her love of books and makeup borders on addiction—of which she never, ever wants to be cured.

Since I LOVED this series SO much I thought that I would just post all the books that are out so far in a massive two and a half book review!

Ok so The Girl In The Steel Corset was amazing.  I do believe it could have been a little better.  In places it was slow going but towards the middle of the book it started up again.

The Girl in the Clockwork Collar was EVEN better!  You must read both these books!  Although I do not do spoilers I will say that the age rating I'm giving this is OT- which is Older Teen and is for ages 16+

This second book talks about prostitution etc. and is not suitable for lower ages.

I can't wait to read more from this series!
