#Tour #Excerpt of Cinderella's Dress by @shonnaslayton #Hosted @RockstarBkTours

Being seventeen during World War II is tough. Finding out you’re the next keeper of the real Cinderella’s dresses is even tougher.
Kate simply wants to create window displays at the department store where she's working, trying to help out with the war effort. But when long-lost relatives from Poland arrive with a steamer trunk they claim holds the Cinderella’s dresses, life gets complicated.
Now, with a father missing in action, her new sweetheart, Johnny, stuck in the middle of battle, and her great aunt losing her wits, Kate has to unravel the mystery before it’s too late.

After all, the descendants of the wicked stepsisters will stop at nothing to get what they think they deserve.

Biography

SHONNA SLAYTON is the author of the YA novel Cinderella's Dress, out June 3, 2014 with Entangled Teen. She finds inspiration in reading vintage diaries written by teens, who despite using different slang, sound a lot like teenagers today. While writing Cinderella's Dress she reflected on her days as a high-school senior in British Columbia when she convinced her supervisors at a sportswear store to let her design a few windows--it was glorious fun while it lasted. When not writing, Shonna enjoys amaretto lattes and spending time with her husband and children in Arizona.

Seeing the dress in person was like seeing the Unicorn Tapestries for the first time when her dad took her to the grand opening of The Cloisters Museum when she was eight. At the time she didn’t think anything could be so amazing. Until now.
The dress had a crisscross bodice with a skirt that flared outwards, supported by layers of crinoline underneath. Embroidered poppies of rounded red, orange, and gold petals climbed a thin green vine up the skirt and into the bodice.
Though the dress was somewhat misshapen from being folded so tightly, she could tell that with a little bit of steam it would flow out into a spectacular ball gown. A gown fit for a princess. The gold was mesmerizing. She could only guess at the value of this dress.
Other treasures were smuggled out of Europe besides paintings.
That’s what Gillespie said. Why would she think of that now? This wasn’t a smuggled treasure. It was the real Kopciuszek dress. She could feel it deep inside. Elsie had told her the truth.
Kate held the dress up to her body and it skimmed her calves. It was made for someone shorter than herself. Looking now at the wrap, Kate smiled. She’d seen that lace pattern before. It was the pattern Aunt Elsie had Kate mend. That sly woman.
The dreams, the stories, so much like the lace Elsie spun. It was all true. Aunt Elsie really did have the Cinderella dress hidden this whole time.
