Biography
I'm a National Magazine Award nominated writer and former magazine editor whose work has appeared in the Globe and Mail, National Post, Elle Canada, and many others. Mating for Life (Atria Books; Simon & Schuster Canada) is my first novel. When I'm not writing, I'm reading. (In fact, I never go anywhere without a book. Except maybe swimming.) Some of my favourite authors are Meg Wolitzer, Julia Glass, Alice Munro, John Irving, Lauren Groff, Margaret Atwood and James Salter. I live in Toronto with my husband and two children, where I teach writing, and am working on another novel.

My Review 5 True Love Stars
This book told in the POVs of three girls and their mom is a well written, charged story about love, motherhood, relationships, marriage, and family. Each girl now a woman is trying to find happiness, but it seems that true happiness is just out of their reach. With two of them in failed marriages and one just trying to finish school. It sounded like a recipe for disaster. But Mating for Life really works!
Each woman has their own voice and POV and I loved how they did the chapters with words and the definition of each word. It worked out fabulous. I really didn't like the fact that each woman was looking for that happily ever after which never really exists. Ive been married twice (first time 1 year this time going on 5) and every day is filled with its own struggles. Its a give and take and not one of 50 50. Someone always gives more. But, even with that this book is a great story. All the characters felt well developed.
