The Fire Prince (The Cursed Kingdoms #2) by Emily Gee

The long awaited and much anticipated sequel to The Sentinel MageThe Fire Prince continues the saga of Prince Harkeld, Innis the shapeshifter, and the imperiled Seven Kingdoms.

The Seven Kingdoms are in the grip of an ancient and terrible blood curse. Thousands have died. Thousands more will die. Only one man can end the curse.

The fugitive Osgaardan prince, Harkeld, is that man—whether he likes it or not. But the bounty on Harkeld’s head is high. He has outrun his father’s soldiers, but he can’t outrun the assassins who seek him—Fithians, trained in the art of killing. Even the Sentinel mages who guide and guard him are no match for Fithian steel. Faced with the ever-present threat of death, Harkeld must learn to use his fire magic. Or die.

Meanwhile, dark plots are unfolding in Osgaard’s gold-tiled palace, snaring Princess Brigitta and those she loves. And in the eastern kingdoms, young orphan Jaumé journeys with a band of mysterious and dangerous fighters, heading north for a purpose he does not understand.

The Cursed Kingdoms trilogy will conclude in 2015 with The Blood Curse.

My Review 5 Stars

The author did a wonderful job with this second book of The Cursed Kingdoms series.  I have to say that although I didnt read book one.  I didnt feel to lost.  I have since went back and read book one and although that gave me some much needed info I still felt like I could read book two and it was still a 5 star read.

This story was well balanced and we get a lot of back info on the group of Frithian assassins which really makes for a better story. The rest of the cast really grow even through through this book there are many twists and turns. The one character with the most change has got to be Prince Harkeld. When I went back and read book one. It was like I wasn't even reading the same person.

So this book is for the magic fan as well as for the reader who wants to see the characters go through tough times and come out changed for the better.

Go Into This One Knowing

Fast read, would be better to read book one but you can read this one without out. You won't be to lost.
