#AuthorChat with @Jackie_Garlick of The Illumination Paradox series

#AuthorChat Aug. 18th 6pm ET. with @garlickbooks#Giveaway

Jacqueline Garlick  was nicknamed “Little Erin” (as in Erin Brockovich) after she took on her school board over being placed in black toxic mould and, well...lost. BUT if she hadn't lost, she's still be teaching with no time for writing, which would be the real tragedy because more than anything else in the world Jacqueline loves to write.

One determined girl. One resourceful boy. One miracle machine that could destroy everything.

After an unexplained flash shatters her world, seventeen-year-old Eyelet Elsworth sets out to find the Illuminator, her father’s prized invention. With it, she hopes to cure herself of her debilitating seizures before Professor Smrt—her father’s arch nemesis—discovers her secret and locks her away in an asylum.

Pursued by Smrt, Eyelet locates the Illuminator only to see it whisked away. She follows the thief into the world of the unknown, compelled not only by her quest but by the allure of the stranger—Urlick Babbit—who harbors secrets of his own.

Together, they endure deadly Vapours and criminal-infested woods in pursuit of the same prize, only to discover the miracle machine they hoped would solve their problems may in fact be their biggest problem of all.

 About the Author

Jacqueline Garlick loves strong heroines, despises whiny sidekicks, and adores good stories about triumphant underdogs. A teacher in her former life, she’s now an author of the very books she loves to read: young adult, new adult, and women’s fiction. Lumière, the first novel in her Illumination Paradox series, won the prestigious 2013 LYRA award for Best Young Adult Novel and an Indie B.R.A.G. Medallion. The book also received the title of B.R.A.G. Medallion Honoree. Jacqueline lives in a house with a purple wall or two, and dreams of one day having a hidden passageway that leads to a secret room. Visit her website at www.jacquelinegarlick.com.

"I'm a huge fan of steampunk and alternate futures/realities, and with Lumiere, Garlick delivered on both. With a pair of strong-willed main characters (Eyelet and Urlick I equally adore), a fresh and exciting story and solid writing that drew me along, Garlick had me reading long past the time I meant to. Can't wait for book two, Noir!" Patti Larsen, award-winning middle grade and young adult author

"One of the most inventive story worlds I've read in years..." Donald Maass, Author of Writing the Breakout Novel, Writing 21st Century Fiction, and The Fire in Fiction

"All opinions are 100% honest and my own."
