Thoughts: Buying Books Used

Well hey there people!  This week were talking about buying used books!  Buying new and used both have their pros and cons. So lets take a peek under the pages and find out which one does which.

So what are some of the pros of buying used.

1. Cost
cost is a real stickler in the buying of books.  They arent cheap.  Even if your buying from amazon or discount places like book outlet books can still get pretty expensive.
So buying used can save you a ton of money!

2. Signed books
Another great pro of buying used is that you could end up with a signed book.  Ive found so many books at used stories that have ended up being signed.

3. Give a homeless book a home
Yes its like adopting a pet. Your giving this unloved book some major lovein!

Right now in my jumbled brain that is on some major pain meds. These are the only ones I can think of.

So what are the cons.  The only four  I could really think of are the following.

1. Your not supporting the author
One major con of buying used is that the author has already been paid for that book.  So they arent making anything when you buy used.  Ways you could help the author out is of course posting a review and sharing that title with your friends.

2. Writing
Used books normally only school text. Usually will have highlighted pages, writing in the margins, etc. So just make sure to check the book out.

3. Condition
Used books can be in bad condition as well.  Ive had a few that looked fine but then fell apart. :(

4. Smell
Used books if not taken care of can really smell bad to!!
