A former children's librarian and newspaper editor, Alissa Grosso is the author of the young adult novels Popular and Ferocity Summer. She is a member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) and currently works as a sales consultant for a book distributor. Grosso grew up in New Jersey, where she graduated from Lenape Valley Regional High School, and earned a bachelor's degree in English from Rutgers University. She now lives in the Philadelphia area.
The first page of Shallow Pond wasn't a great start to the book. I feel like I didn't know where the author was going with the story and it just kept repeating itself. But eventually as the story progressed it became a little more interesting. There were some twists and turns that really had me on my toes. I liked that Barbara was developed throughout the book. Overall this book was okay, I didn't like the beginning at all but it gets better when you actually get in a few chapters.
