The Broken One by Christine H. Bailey #BookReview

Sixteen-year-old Farris is picking up the pieces after the untimely death of her best friend. But even one year later, she can’t seem to find “normal” again—not until Lane Evans pops back into her life and pushes her to face reality. When he offers her the chance to find the truth, Farris fears what will surface. Is it too much too soon or just what she needs to move forward?

Christine H. Bailey writes young adult fiction and also teaches college writing courses. Before teaching English, Bailey worked as a journalist, a marketing/public relations writer, and a freelance editor. Writing both for young adults and academic audiences, she credits her love of the written word to such greats as J.D. Salinger, Franz Kafka, and Judy Blume. Bailey is also an active blogger about all things writing, including tips and trends in YA fiction and more. The native Canadian now resides in Tennessee and has an affinity for German chocolate, good, soulful music, and happy endings. You can find her blog and upcoming events at cibailey.com.

I really liked that Bailey left us with questions unanswered. I think that it teaches the reader a really important lesson; not everything in life is resolved easily, if at all. The offered no real closure and forced the reader to either except the world how it is or get mad at it. There were some characters that I would have liked a little more details about but other than that this was a very well written book.
