I really wanted to love this one. I don't know anything about Hamilton but I love me some De La Cruz! She is one of my all time fav authors. So I was very excited when I was approved for this one. But that glee didn't last. (Insert sad face here)
This book just didn't work out for me. The banter between Angelica, Peggy, and Eliza just didn't work for me and they all came off as bitter, petty, naive, and pretty insipid characters. I really didn't like anyone and that made this book very hard to read. The historical aspect of this book was very flat and dull and I found myself just putting the book down again and again.
My recommendation is:
Don't go into this thinking it is a retelling of the musical. You will be disappointed!
