#BookReview: Shadow Rise (Shadow Fall #2) by @AudreyGreyBooks ‏ Thanks to @BlazePub @Netgalley

Terrorist. Rebel. Traitor.

One rash decision during the Shadow Trials led to unspeakable horrors that left innocents dead, friends injured and hunted by the Empire, and Maia Graystone imprisoned in the Tower at the Archduchess’s mercy.

Unsure if Riser Thornbrook survived, Maia must find a way to battle the Empire from within its own walls and escape so she can fulfill the promise to her father and stop the asteroid. But when she breaks free and joins Nicolai's Rebel army, she discovers she’s been branded a traitor. With war between the Rebels and the Empire looming, old alliances shifting, and suspicion hanging over her head, she must fight in the Rebel Blood Courts—and win command—to regain their trust.

Only problem is, first she has defeat the reigning champion, someone she knows all too well. Will Maia’s emotions lead to her defeat, or will she rise up and claim her victory?

Audrey Grey lives in the charming state of Oklahoma, with her husband, two little people, and four mischievous dogs. You can usually find her hiding out in her office from said little people and dogs, surrounded by books and sipping kombucha while dreaming up wondrous worlds for her characters to live in.

I am in love with these covers! I have to say that Blaze Publishing has some of the best covers I have seen via an indie publication. SO PRETTY!!

The author did a wonderful job with sucking me into this story right off the bat I couldn't put it down.  The writing was wonderful and unique and it didn't take more than the first chapter to get me hooked on this world and story once again.  I was so happy to be back in this world which the author has done a fantastic job with creating a world that is beautiful and mystical. The flow and pacing of the story worked well and I never felt lost.  The story was fast paced but not too fast there was a lot of action as well as some great banter and snarky commentary which was great!  I really enjoyed that we also got some backstory that was much wanted and needed.  The characters were also great, Grey did well with the development of both main and secondary characters.

The ending of this one left me wanting more and man was that a twist I didn't see coming!  I really can't wait to get book three and many thanks to Netgalley and Blaze Publishing for the review copy!
