#BookReview: The Flip Side by Shawn Johnson

About the Book: Charlie Ryland has a secret.

She may seem like your average high school sophomore—but she’s just really good at pretending.

Because outside of school Charlie spends all her waking hours training to become one of the best gymnasts in the world. And it’s not easy flying under the radar when you’re aiming for Olympic gold…especially when an irresistible guy comes along and threatens to throw your whole world off balance.

Noteworthy experiences while reading this book: Nothing

Recommend this book? If you're into fun and fluff, definitely

Notes and Opinions: If nothing else, this book was very cute. The plot was simplistic, but fairly evenly paced and the characters were just complex enough to be interesting. I also felt like they were relatively believable, especially the ones who weren't elite athletes competing at the highest levels in the world.

This is the kind of book that you can pick up randomly and read in a night or two. While I'd qualify it as a guilty pleasure, in a way, it was enjoyable learning more about how a gymnast competing at that level struggles to balance school and life as an athlete.

Go Into This One Knowing: It's kind of silly and it's hard to relate to an elite, world-class gymnast on some levels
