#BookReview: The Gentleman's Guide to Vice and Virtue by @themackenzilee with @EndyOchita @CursedReader

About the Book:

Henry “Monty” Montague was born and bred to be a gentleman, but he was never one to be tamed. The finest boarding schools in England and the constant disapproval of his father haven’t been able to curb any of his roguish passions—not for gambling halls, late nights spent with a bottle of spirits, or waking up in the arms of women or men.

But as Monty embarks on his Grand Tour of Europe, his quest for a life filled with pleasure and vice is in danger of coming to an end. Not only does his father expect him to take over the family’s estate upon his return, but Monty is also nursing an impossible crush on his best friend and traveling companion, Percy.

Still it isn’t in Monty’s nature to give up. Even with his younger sister, Felicity, in tow, he vows to make this yearlong escapade one last hedonistic hurrah and flirt with Percy from Paris to Rome. But when one of Monty’s reckless decisions turns their trip abroad into a harrowing manhunt that spans across Europe, it calls into question everything he knows, including his relationship with the boy he adores.

About the Author:
Mackenzi Lee earned a BA in history (in the middle of which she took her own grand tour of Europe) and an MFA from Simmons College in writing for children and young adults. She loves Diet Coke, sweater weather, and Star Wars. On a perfect day, she can be found enjoying all three. You can spot her on Twitter @themackenzilee, where she curates a weekly story time about badass women from history you probably don't know about but should. She currently calls Boston home.

Noteworthy experiences while reading this book: That its ok to sometimes want to slap the main character upside the head.

Notes and Opinions:  This was a book that I wasn't to keen on before I started it. I have not found a lot of LGBT books that I have enjoyed. But this one started off so well I just couldn't put it down. This one follows Monty, Percy, and Felicity on their Grand Tour.  And well a lot of things happened in this one that was beyond funny.  There were times that I really wanted to knock Monty upside the head. Because his choices were just plain stupid. But other times I just want to hold him close and tell him that everything would be ok. This book ranged in emotions from being sexy, touches of humor, dangerous, with a lot of draw dropping things happening around the corner.  I really can not wait for the next one to come out which is based on Felicity who was a woman out of her time period. She reminds me a lot of Claire from the series Outlander. She doesn't take no for an answer and she knows what she wants even if for her time period and her being a girl may not be allowed.  She forges ahead and doesn't look back.

This at times was an edge of your seat thriller than at others it was just your normal boy falls for a boy but doesn't know if that boy really does like him.  I made my feels go all over the place and at one point I just wanted to jump in the book and tell Monty and Percy to make up and see that they loved each other.   I really hope that we get to see more of them in book two.  I would like to see what has happened since the ending of this one.

Although this is a first in a series it does well as a stand-alone.  I love it when authors go the distance and do not just make a book to introduce us the world and the characters but give us a full-fledged story. Even if it would have ended on a cliffhanger.  Which this one does not. It does end with an open ending leaving it slightly uncertain on what will happen to this cast of characters next.  So I eagerly await book two and all it holds.

Go Into This One Knowing:  LGBT, Action, Humorus, Some very sexy romance pages
