#BookReview: Scourged (The Iron Druid Chronicles, #9) by @KevinHearne with @thelitcoffaerie

About the Book:
Kevin Hearne creates the ultimate Atticus O’Sullivan adventure in the grand finale of the New York Times bestselling Iron Druid Chronicles: an epic battle royale against the Norse gods of Asgard.

Unchained from fate, the Norse gods Loki and Hel are ready to unleash Ragnarok, a.k.a. the Apocalypse, upon the earth. They’ve made allies on the darker side of many pantheons, and there’s a globe-spanning battle brewing that ancient Druid Atticus O’Sullivan will be hard-pressed to survive, much less win.

Granuaile MacTiernan must join immortals Sun Wukong and Erlang Shen in a fight against the Yama Kings in Taiwan, but she discovers that the stakes are much higher than she thought.

Meanwhile, Archdruid Owen Kennedy must put out both literal and metaphorical fires from Bavaria to Peru to keep the world safe for his apprentices and the future of Druidry.

And Atticus recruits the aid of a tyromancer, an Indian witch, and a trickster god in hopes that they’ll give him just enough leverage to both save Gaia and see another sunrise. There is a hound named Oberon who deserves a snack, after all.

About the Author:
Kevin Hearne hugs trees, pets doggies, and rocks out to heavy metal. He also thinks tacos are a pretty nifty idea. He is the author of A Plague of Giants and the New York Times bestselling series The Iron Druid Chronicles.

Noteworthy experiences while reading this book: This was the perfect ending to a brilliant series!

Check out author's other books? Yes, I have read the first three books in this series and now the final one. I plan to read the rest of the books I missed as well as the novellas and Hearne's other series.

Recommend this book? ABSOLUTELY!

Notes and Opinions: I LOVED this book. I loved Owen and the sloth. I loved the pups. It was bittersweet to have it end but I couldn't have thought of a more resolved end. The mirroring between the ending and the beginning of the series actually made me cry. This book was funny but more serious than the other books I have read in the series which was needed. As this was the last book, there needed to be the grave consequences of Atticus' actions throughout the series. I hope to see more books about Owen and his Grove which I also hope include Slomo. I enjoyed that all of the deities that were in previous books had an appearance. Overall, this was the perfect ending to an AMAZING series that I have truly loved and am sad to see end. However, Kevin Hearne picked the best ending I think could have happened. It felt real and not a true happily-ever-after.

Go Into This One Knowing: There is swearing, multiple religious deities, and blood war scenes.
