#BookReview: Winter Sisters (Mary Sutter #2) by Robin Oliveira #noshelfcontrol @booksparks

About the Book:

From the New York Times bestselling author of My Name Is Mary Sutter comes a rich and compelling historical novel about the disappearance of two young girls after a cataclysmic blizzard, and what happens when their fate is discovered

New York, 1879: After an epic snow storm ravages the city of Albany, Dr. Mary Sutter, a former Civil War surgeon, begins a search for two little girls, the daughters of close friends killed by the storm who have vanished without a trace.

Mary's mother and niece Elizabeth, who has been studying violin in Paris, return to Albany upon learning of the girls' disappearance--but Elizabeth has another reason for wanting to come home, one she is not willing to reveal. Despite resistance from the community, who believe the girls to be dead, the family persists in their efforts to find the two sisters. When what happened to them is revealed, the uproar that ensues tears apart families, reputations, and even the social fabric of the city, exposing dark secrets about some of the most powerful of its citizens, and putting fragile loves and lives at great risk.

Winter Sisters is a propulsive new novel by the New York Times bestselling author of My Name Is Mary Sutter.

Notes and Opinions:  The first thing I need to tell you about this book is to bundle up! No matter how hot it is outside you are going to want something hot to drink and a nice blanket to read this one. Becuase SNOW LOTS AND LOTS OF SNOW!! The author did a great job getting me into the story and making me freeze my butt off.  Second is that I did not read the first book but I didn't feel lost at all.  I do want to read the first book now though.

Ok so this one is DARK which is the third thing to tell you! DARK MAN you have to remember that in the 1800 the age of concent was around 10 years old (I looked it up) so what happens to this 7 and 10 year olds is insane.

Now that that is done lets get into the review. MAN this book blew me away it did have some slight pacing issues for me. As a few parts seemed a little slower than it needed to be but other than that this was fantastic. This book will take you through a rollercoaster of emotions and actvities that you just won't know who to trust and what in the world is going on. It did a wonderful job keeping me on the edge of my seat as well as making me feel for the charaters. The characters were all there and so unique.

This book and story are not for the faint of heart. I won't go into spoilers but just so you know it deals with rape and abuse of a child. And then all of the situtations after that outcome.  It was an amazing story.

Go Into This One Knowing: Rape and Abuse of a child, Winter Storm, Death, Mystery
