#BookReview: Killer Instinct (Killer Instinct, #1) by @segreenauthor

About the Book:

She’s not evil, but she has certain... urges.

Lane is a typical teenager. Loving family. Good grades. An afterschool job at the local animal hospital. Martial arts enthusiast. But her secret obsession is studying serial killers. She understands them, knows what makes them tick.

Why?

Because she might be one herself.

Lane channels her dark impulses by hunting criminals—delivering justice when the law fails. The vigilantism stops shy of murder. But with each visceral rush the line of self-control blurs.
And then a young preschool teacher goes missing. Only to return... in parts.

When Lane excitedly gets involved in the hunt for “the Decapitator,” the vicious serial murderer that has come to her hometown, she gets dangerously caught up in a web of lies about her birth dad and her own dark past. And once the Decapitator contacts Lane directly, Lane knows she is no longer invisible or safe. Now she needs to use her unique talents to find the true killer’s identity before she—or someone she loves—becomes the next victim...

Note: I read this series back before it even came out and fell in love with Lane and her family.  I am back with an updated review on these for the fact that we are getting a book 3! I know I am so freaking excited for this! I still do not have anything information to tell you other than I am beta reading for the author and I am so excited!

My Review:  Every once in a while a book comes along that even 4 years after it came out you still call it one of your favs! And this ladies and gents is mine! I loved this book back when I had gotten it as an ARC and man o man even 4 years later this is still one of my favorite books.  Which thinking about this now is kind of weird since this is about a girl who is essentially a serial killer for bad guys.

So the one thing with rereading this that I was worried about was that twist at the end.  Well, I can say now that after reading this I still didn't see it coming.  I found out from the author that she also didn't know who the murderer was until the end. So I think that came out in the book 100%.  Most of the time I see twists a mile or a few hundred pages away but this one wasn't like that at all.

I really loved how Lane came into her own during this story. When it starts off she is very detached from her family as a whole and she really becomes more open with her sister and brother.  In some aspects, this is a coming of age story for me.

Do I Recommend this book? If you love getting away with murder and fighting for justice and all that then I would totally recommend this book to you! It is out of this world and just one of the best thrillers out there!

Go Into This One Knowing: TWIST, Murder, Gore, Did I mention that TWIST?

'I turn seventeen next week.
The Weasel will be my birthday present to myself.
I think I've found my first victim.'

'I suppose it would behoove me to try "normal" more often.'
