Synopsis: Quaker midwife Rose Carroll seeks the true cause of a young mother's death
The winter of 1889 is harsh in Amesbury, Massachusetts, but it doesn't stop Quaker midwife Rose Carroll from making the rounds to her pregnant and postpartum mothers.

About the Author: Edith Maxwell is President of the New England chapter of Sisters in Crime and a long-time member of the Society of Friends. She is the author of the Local Foods Mysteries and writes the Country Store Mysteries under the pseudonym Maddie Day.

My Review: It seems this is cozy mystery week. Here is another one this one book four! Although I have not read the first three books I think this one did a great job. I was never lost or anything and this one is pretty much fully contained so that you don't have to read the first three books. This cozy mystery was a little more out there than some of them that I've read. It talks about abortion and sexual practices in this time period. I think that if you are interested in those kinds of things then check this one out.
