#BookReview for The Lightning Thief (Percy Jackson and the Olympians #1) by Rick Riordan

Synopsis: Percy Jackson is a good kid, but he can't seem to focus on his schoolwork or control his temper. And lately, being away at boarding school is only getting worse - Percy could have sworn his pre-algebra teacher turned into a monster and tried to kill him. When Percy's mom finds out, she knows it's time that he knew the truth about where he came from, and that he go to the one place he'll be safe. She sends Percy to Camp Half Blood, a summer camp for demigods (on Long Island), where he learns that the father he never knew is Poseidon, God of the Sea. Soon a mystery unfolds and together with his friends—one a satyr and the other the demigod daughter of Athena - Percy sets out on a quest across the United States to reach the gates of the Underworld (located in a recording studio in Hollywood) and prevent a catastrophic war between the gods.

My Review:
I devoured this book so quickly.  If you are a lover of Greek mythology like myself than you will enjoy this book.  We follow the tale of a boy named Percy as he discovers that he is far from normal.  He is the son of the Greek god Poseidon.  Finding out about his powers also comes with a price.  Being chased by monsters and being framed for stealing your uncles first lighting bolt to name a few of the crazy things to happen in this book.  Riordans writing will suck you in from start to finish!  I can’t wait to finish on with this amazing journey and these amazing characters.  If you have not picked this one up then what are you waiting for!!!

"Packed with humorous allusions to Greek mythology . . . along with rip-snorting action sequences, this book really shines." --Horn Book Magazine

"[A] riotously paced quest tale of heroism that questions the realities of our world, family, friendship and loyalty." --Kirkus Reviews, starred review
