#BookReview: A Pack of Blood and Lies (The Boulder Wolves #1) by @OWildWrites

Synopsis: The primal rule of winning: don’t fall in love with the contender.

Three months shy of her eighteenth birthday, Ness is forced to return to Colorado. Even though it’s been six years, and the wolves of her all-male pack don’t recognize her, she recognizes them. People who shun others because of their gender are hard to forget.

Especially Liam Kolane—son of Heath, the crudest and cruelest Alpha to have ruled the Boulder Pack. Liam is as handsome as he is infuriating, as kind as he is punishing, and he makes Ness’s traitorous heart race, which isn’t good. After all, he’s a Kolane. Like father like son, right?

When Heath dies, Liam vies to become the new Alpha and no one dares challenge him.

Except Ness.

Thus begins a treacherous game.

The rules: winner takes all…including loser’s life.

USA TODAY bestselling author Olivia Wildenstein grew up in New York City, the daughter of a French father with a great sense of humor, and a Swedish mother whom she speaks to at least three times a day. She chose Brown University to complete her undergraduate studies and earned a bachelor’s in comparative literature. After designing jewelry for a few years, Wildenstein traded in her tools for a laptop computer and a very comfortable chair. This line of work made more sense, considering her college degree.

When she’s not writing, she’s psychoanalyzing everyone she meets (Yes. Everyone), eavesdropping on conversations to gather material for her next book, baking up a storm (that she actually eats), going to the gym (because she eats), and attempting not to be late at her children’s school (like she is 4 out of 5 mornings, on good weeks).

Wildenstein lives with her husband and three children in Geneva, Switzerland, where she’s an active member of the writing community.

My Review: This one started out slow and I almost DNFed it but I held out and I am so glad that I did.  By the end of this one I was hooked and I couldn't put it down and now I need book two.  I do think that this one could have been a little better for the start of it but overall it was a great story.  It had action, adventure, creatures, and magic.  With a great cast of characters.  However, the pacing was a little off.

"If you like fast-paced young adult paranormal romance, your heart will race as you devour this first in series, and at the end, you'll want to join this pack of werewolves!!" ~ Raye Wagner, USA Today Bestselling author of BLOOD OATH

"With a sizzling slow burn romance, fully fleshed out secondary characters you'll adore, and a fiercely strong but human heroine, I dare you to read this book and not fall head-over-heels in love." Audrey Grey, USA Today Bestselling author of OATH TAKER

"I like my fiction raw and a bit dark, triggers and all. I was thrilled that Wildenstein didn't shy away from the ugly. Plus, the writing was superb!" ~ Nikki Jefford, Bestselling author of WOLF HOLLOW

"A fascinating, nail-biting romance reminiscent of Bitten by Kelley Armstrong!" ~ Diana Lavaughn, Goodreads reviewer

"A female in a pack full of males, standing up for herself, fighting to gain her place? HECK YES!!!" ~ Deekay, Goodreads reviewer

"I love Ness' mindful recklessness and the simmering attraction with Liam. The writing was very addictive." ~ Diana, Goodreads reviewer

"WOW! If I could give this book ten stars I would. I loved every second and every word of this book." ~ Elysian Fields, Goodreads reviewer

"My nerves are still fried. In a good way though." ~ Ash, Reviews of a FearStreetZombie

"Action-packed and, like all of Wildenstein's books, surprises all around. Fans of paranormal romance are in for a treat." ~ Katie Hayoz, bestselling author of The Clockwork Sirens

"I loved Ness! She's sweet and spicy, and I loved to watch her get out of all the sticky situations that came her way." ~ Theresea Barrett

"Be ready for tough emotions, physical battles, betrayal, lies, hard truths, so much heartache and a wonderful relationship." ~ Katherine, Smada's Book Review reviewer
