#BookReview: Rescue Me by N. J. Walters

Synopsis: When a raging fire engulfs her apartment, Martha Benson can do nothing but send up desperate prayers that she might somehow be rescued—until she suddenly finds herself being carried out in the powerful arms of the one man she never expected to see again, Frank Ellis. When he miraculously parts the demonic wall of flames and leads them to safety, she’s stunned to realize that this ruggedly handsome man who once broke her heart can still stir sensual desires she’d long given up on ever feeling again.

As a young man, Frank was consumed by a haunting connection to fire that he did not understand and lived in fear that he might accidentally harm Martha. Forced to walk away from her for her own safety, he still dreamed of her and their youthful passion. And now that he has found her again nearly twenty years later, he’s determined to never leave her, and he knows he must learn to harness his mystical power to win her trust and make her his own.

As their reunion sparks their desire anew and forges a deep emotional and erotic bond, Frank and Martha must both confront their fears to rise from the ashes of their past and rekindle a love that can never be extinguished . . .

About the Author: Once upon a time N.J. had the idea that she would like to quit her job at the bookstore, sell everything she owned, leave her hometown, and write romance novels in a place where no one knew her. And she did. Two years later, she went back to the bookstore and her hometown and settled in for another seven years.

One day she gave notice at her job on a Friday morning. On Sunday afternoon, she received a tentative acceptance for her first romance novel and life would never be the same.

N.J. Walters is a New York Times and USA Today Bestselling author who has always been a voracious reader, and now she spends her days writing novels of her own. Vampires, werewolves, dragons, time-travelers, seductive handymen, and next-door neighbors with smoldering good looks—all vie for her attention. It’s a tough life, but someone’s got to live it.
Rating: 🌟🌟🌟🌟
My Review: This little just over 100 page story packs a punch!  It was spicy and hot and full of sexy things.  But the main character of Martha could have been better.  I really felt like she was just settling for Frank from the start of the story instead of really looking for love. This hint of urban fantasy with lots of spicy romance was one I won't soon forget. But I wished that Martha would have been a stronger woman. The pacing was great and the writing was easy to follow and I don't remember any plot points not getting tied up.
