#BookReview: Exile for Dreamers (Stranje House, #2) by @katbaldwin @TorTeen

Synopsis: It’s 1814. Napoleon has escaped his imprisonment on Elba. Europe is in shambles. Britain is at war on four fronts. And at Stranje House, a School for Unusual Girls, five young ladies are secretly being trained for a world of spies, diplomacy, and war.

Tess Aubreyson can’t run far enough or fast enough to escape the prophetic dreams that haunt her. Dreams bring nothing but death and grief, and Tess refuses to accept that she may be destined for the same madness that destroyed her mother. Until her disturbing dreams become the only means of saving Lord Ravencross, the man she loves, and her fellow students at Stranje House. Tess’s old friend, the traitorous Lady Daneska, and Ghost, the ruthless leader of the Iron Crown, have returned to England, intent on paving the way for Napoleon’s invasion. Can the young ladies of Stranje House prevail once more? Or is England destined to fall into the hands of the power-mad dictator?

My Review: This was my favorite story out of this series so far.  I love how Tess is a no nonsense girl.  If she wanted to go running she did it.  She has dreams that sometimes come true I love how fierce she is when it comes to those she loves.  The ending to this one was amazing and just what I was looking for.  These book are just so amazing.  The author can't exactly put an epilogue since the story is still going. So this dream of the future was a perfect way to end this story.

Gr 7 Up—In this sequel to A School for Unusual Girls, the adventurous and gifted young ladies of Miss Stranje's secret training school for spies have returned to Regency England after a dangerous escapade in France to stop Napoleon. The series spotlight shifts to Tess Aubreyson, who is haunted by prophetic dreams. She is anxious but determined not to let her nightmares drive her mad. Tess and Miss Stranje anticipate retaliation and an attack by sinister Lady Daneska and her lover, the Ghost, both members of Napoleon's secret order of the Iron Crown. With keen insight, knife-wielding skill, and unspoken love, Tess is desperate to protect the Stranje House girls and her brooding, handsome neighbor, Lord Ravencross. Despite her resolve and preparation, the protagonist is kidnapped by conniving Lady Daneska, who wants the teen to aid Napoleon with her ability. The resourceful students, Lord Ravencross, and Mr. Sinclair, a wry American innovator, launch an inventive pursuit by sea. The tantalizing, palpable attraction between Tess and Lord Ravencross will make readers eager for their ultimate embrace. A high seas escape and the joyous return of Captain Grey and Lord Wyatt ensure more adventures, romance, and intrigue to come. Vivid action descriptions, deft period dialogue and verbal sparring, well-drawn characters, new relationships, and burgeoning romance will propel this lively alternative rendition of history into the hands of teen readers. VERDICT Purchase where alternative histories, Regency romances, and the previous volume are popular.—Gerry Larson, formerly at Durham School of the Arts, NC
