#BookReview: Angel Bred (Halflings, #2) by @heatherburch

Synopsis: To stop evil, would you resort to murder?

Her home has been destroyed. Her parents are dead. And Nikki may be next.
Forced to flee with a group of Halflings, Nikki struggles to find her place among the tight family of angelic beings.
Living in close proximity with Mace and Raven forces her to confront her growing feelings for each of them.

But there's no time for love when piece by piece, the plot to destroy Nikki—and in doing so set about the end of the world—is unveiled.

Tensions mount and everyone's loyalties are tested. Nikki may be important to the Halflings mission, but she refuses to be anyone's babysitting assignment. She's tired of standing on the sidelines and letting others fight her battles. Nikki will take matters into her own hands.

But when confronted with abject evil, does she have what it takes to commit murder?

My Review: So I finally finished book two after reading through book one of course.  I have read this one two times or so.  I loved the continuing story of Nikki and the angels have have protected her.  In this one Nikki had to deal with the loss of her family and everything she holds dear.  She is being hunted and isn't sure where she should go.  I hate to say it but I love how Burch dealt with the inner turmoil that Nikki goes through in this story.  She just really doesn't know if the choice she made was the right one and she is conflicted.   It felt very real and very deep.

The pacing in these stories are for those who want action and a fast read.  You will never be bored because these stories are not slow in the slightest. Something is always going on and the story is always moving forward.

“No one can teach you because you can’t learn it. You have to feel it. From within.

Faith has to become a part of who you are. It’s not a separate item. It’s woven into you.”

“Some wounds take a long time to heal.” She looked over at him. “And some you just learn to live with.”
