Ultra-high-achiever Viviana Rabinovich-Lowe has always had a plan—and no room to be anything less than perfect. But her quest for perfection comes to a screeching halt when her boyfriend leaks racy pictures of her to the entire school. Making matters worse, her parents are getting divorced and now her perfect family is falling apart. For the first time, Viv feels like a complete and utter failure.

Then she gets a job working at the community pool, where she meets a new group of friends who know nothing about her past. That includes Evan, a gorgeous guy who makes her want to do something she never thought she’d do again: trust. For the first time in her life, Viv realizes she can finally be whoever she wants. But who is that? While she tries to figure it out, she learns something they never covered in her AP courses: that it’s okay to be less than perfect, because it’s our imperfections that make us who we are.

E. Katherine Kottaras is the author of the young adult novel How to Be Brave. She is at her happiest when she is either 1) at the playground with her husband and daughter and their wonderful community of friends, 2) breathing deeply in a full handstand, or 3) writing. She now lives in Los Angeles where she's hard at work on her next book.

In this book we follow Viviana who is an academic over achiever. But her life begins to fall apart at the seams after a certain "incident". As she is trying to keep her life from crumbling to the ground her friend, Sammie, gets her a job at the community pool for the summer. This book will have you feeling for Viviana and appreciating how even though she is falling apart inside she still manages to have compassion for other people and helps them. I also really liked the friendship between Viviana and Sammie.

Book in a Pinch
Viviana goes from academic over achiever to falling apart at the seams from one specific "incident".
 Go Into This One Knowing
There is a lot happening for it being a shorter book.
