Now, Trish has to keep her day job a secret from her foster parents, join forces with the ex-boyfriend who killed her, and hunt down a dangerous criminal before he comes into his powers. Should be a piece of cake.

My Review: I loved all the beings in this story and the characters. This is one story that you will start and won't be able to stop until the last page. Which then you will want to get the next one after that. I could not put this one down.

Regen is an urban fantasy novel written by Cassie Greutman. When Trish regained consciousness, her rising feelings of terror battled with her need to be able to move. At first, even opening her eyes was a struggle as she tried to figure out where she was and what had happened to her. Then, as her ability to control her movements slowly returned,she remembered that he had shot her. With trembling fingers, she felt for the hole that was prominent and up center in the dress she was wearing. Where was he now? she wondered. Would he try to kill her again? As she forced herself to sit up, she felt herself being nudged and prompted by a small bush, then the roots of a tree. Trish remembered her mom telling her that things would get strange as she grew up, and Trish had just turned 16. Standing in the dark in a dress (which she normally hated wearing), Trish wondered where she was and how she could get back home. She dreaded the inevitable scene with her foster parents, Dan and Nina, whom she really cared about and actually appreciated. Even so,she couldn't wait to get back to her home and safety.
Cassie Greutman's urban fantasy, Regen, is a marvelous coming of age story featuring a young fae teen and her human foster parents. Greutman addresses many of the issues that orphaned or foster children face in trying to find out more about their parents and their family history. For Trish, it's even more complicated as she's not even human, but a member of the world of faerie, which can be a grim and terrifying place it seems, at least from what she's seen of some of its inhabitants.Regen is a fast-paced and engrossing story that keeps the reader on edge as Trish becomes an unwilling participant in a search for another young fae living in the world of humans, and finds herself having to make life-changing decisions that mean real personal sacrifice. I loved seeing Trish come of age. She's a marvelous character who wields strength, resilience and ingenuity in ways that would challenge most adults. Her growing relationship with her foster parents, especially Nina, had me smiling from ear to ear. I'm hoping for a sequel to this compelling urban fantasy. Regen is most highly recommended.
